IIRC, Rossi's contract runs to the end of next season. I agree that he needs three seasons (circa 7-8 wins a season) to break the record. I'm sure Yamaha will be happy to keep him on for that period of time although I agree that it wouldn't be a surprise to see Lorenzo overtake him as top dog in the next year or two.

I forgot to put down that Pedrosa does spend some time in the gravel. Then that just leaves Stoner and Lorenzo unless there is someone else I've missed. I'd like to say Nicky Hayden is a threat but he's not.

At the other end of the standings, the inevitable has happened and Yuki Takahashi has been given the Japanese equivalent of his P45.

Definitely. I hope it's as good as last year without Stoner's dummy-spitting if he gets beaten again. That really put me off him.

I'm sure it'll be a good one and Stoner won't spit his dummy out like last year.

There is a chance that Lorenzo will not be racing tonight after a heavy crash yesterday. If you've seen it you'll know what I mean.

Raced, but an estimated five-week recovery time will severely put a spanner in the works of his title challenge. In that time, you've got Germany and Donington - not exactly easy circuits.

Both Stoner and Lorenzo need to start finishing ahead of Rossi and soon. That's hard enough when you're fully fit. It's nigh on impossible when you've got shoulder-knack and a mystery illness that turns up every weekend.
