Hi all

I have been reading with interest your comments re children at the ground and match day events and was wondering if a few of you fancied working with Hannah on initiatives etc.

I spoke to someone last week regarding this and he came up with an idea i am going to look at so maybe if we had more people helping then we could put into practice some of your ideas.

Let me know if you would be interested.

Thanks, Helen

One question Helen if you could answer it.

Why are the kids not allowed to go on the pitch at half time.
At the last home game some kids were on the pitch, at half time and Mick Westerman told them to get of the pitch.

Shouldn't you let the kids play on the pitch at half time.
It gives them a chance to practice, it gives parents a break from having them next to them. Its a safe place for the kids to mess about and with this weather is not going to damage the pitch.

Cheers.

Yes, they could take an ice cream on whilst they are playing or sweeties and deposit their rubbish whilst they are at it. If its young ones they could take lego on and leave a few pieces for Presley to sidestep. Oh perhaps I could bring my dog Ellie into the ground to have a runaround (I promise to pick up any deposits), now she would beat Freddie in a length of the pitch race. :D :)

As someone who tends to wander on at the end with my kids I am very very grateful that the club allow this at all. Do Oldham, Rochdale, York etc allow it? No. Yet Keighley do. Our 5 year old loves it and the 2 year cares not as long as he is being chased he could be on the moon and smile.

I personally am not fused about half time as I am grateful for being let on with the lads after the players have left the pitch. I think if there were too many people then it may be difficult to clear everyone before the players come back out, it is only 10 minutes.

Perhaps tag matches gets them on the pitch in a more organised way.

Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.

My point entirely.

After the match would be great, in fact I would like to play on the pitch after the match too a s I am a big kid (and not a girl as guess who is implying - gender stereotyping "ooh listen to her")[/quote]

The thing is you made no point in your first post.

I have no idea what gender you are. I was replying in jest just as you did to my first post.

After the match could work, but would people want to stay behind after?

Quite a few do stay after game, those that do not clearly would not know its not rocket science, its great to see kids afterwards enjoying themselves. I agree that if no official half time event maybe kicking contest for the kids then the pitch shoould be clear.
