Ok, I'm gonna start off with a post from another topic.

king of the shed wrote:We're a small club with small finances and small crowds to match, I'm not sure who some of you think we are, we constantly punch above our weight and have done for many years,

Ok, the last game I saw us play was in the GF last year. I've since been travelling around Australia and NZ and trust me, it's not easy missing so many games even if I did decide that this year was to be a kind of developmental season in which finishing any higher than bottom place would be an achievement. I'm going to be attending the game on Friday and trust me, I'm thoroughly excited about it. But you know what, I'm really not looking forwards to standing in the shed with a lot of you. I keep hearing all this negative talk which has very little substance beyond rumour mongering.
Salford Rugby League has had such a positive influence on my life as I'm sure it has on many others. I smile at times when I remember the emotions both good and bad that we have all collectively been through.
It always seems to me that supporting this club is unlike supporting any other. You know what though, that's most probably because it is. KOTS comments sum this up perfectly. We do punch above our weight and that's why we love it. That's why we're so passionate about it. Eternally optimistic about the possibility of upsetting the apple carts and achieving more than we're expected to.
Sure, we all thought we'd have the stadium we've been promised and sure, we all thought we'd be a wealthier club marching up the table ending our never ending wait for glory. But, as of yet, we're not. So, why has our psyche changed so much. We used to buzz in the shed every week before the very inception of sparkly new stadium and during the very process itself. It was a pleasure to be there. So, on the basis we haven't got 1 yet we've quickly descended into the psyche of all the other bloody miserable fans in RL who are only happy when they're whinging. Something most of used to abode and use against against other fans when attempting to prove that despite our lack of success and small fan base we are still the most passionate bunch in the game.
I'm not suggesting that you all shouldn't be a little concerned about the way the club can appear to be heading but guys and girls, you can't do anything about the business side of things. It's largely out of your control.
The 1 part of the game that is in your complete control is supporting this team week in and week out like we always used to. A loyal bunch of nut cases who scream and shout their love for this club and it's team every time they run out onto the pitch. Great days. I'd personally love them back and will be ensuring that I go home with a sore throat on Friday and hopefully a lot of you will be doing the same.
So peeps. What d'ya think. Are we gonna carry on with this endless debate that ultimately counts for sod all or are we gonna do what we're good at and ressurect the passion that we all have for this club? For £17 I'm personally gonna select the 2nd and go home with a smile on my
face! :D

I blame the closeness of some people's homes to Warrington.

SWhinging Flu is contagious.

I will be there on Friday - though not in the shed (kids can't see and I aint holding them up all night) - and we will go with a devil theme as opposed to the rest of you who all bottled it last week. Last week was flat as a pancake as niether side was very good so hopefully the players will pick up and play their socks off and give us something to shout about. A win gainst Saints to go with the Leeds win will do very nicely thank you.

That's the spirit.

The way I see it is that I have my health, the weathers good and I'm going to watch my beloved Salford RL play. Despite what Saints may do to us I'll be enjoying this 1 no matter what.

I take your point about punching well above our weight for many years, but thats what salford RLFC is all about, nothing better than salford crashing over against somebody and going bannanas and looking towards the oppositon fans.
Personally i feel like im turning into one of the bitter fans who have the white flag half drawn ready and looking for someone to blame, i thought it'll never happen to me but i can feel the signs coming, perhaps i need somthing from the players to say they still care as much as i did.
I think on Friday the 17 picked will hopefully give that extra 10% as its a big team, they will need to push themselves to stay in the game for as long as possible weather that 10% will be enough depends on Saints reaily and their attitude .

That extra 10% they give friday would have won the game last week im sure of it but thats salford all over, big teams + big effort = Sometimes win if the opponents dont want it as bad.

Medium/small teams + Average effort = Lose games we should win.

Roll on Friday

Nice post by the way :)

Positivity is great and has always been what being a Salford fan is all about. I agree that people are whinging, me included, but it can start to wear a bit thin when the same thing happens all the time.

I think what people have been so pi$$ed off about is the silence that has pervaded from the club, even though we all knew about the LSC funding problem long before anything was released from the club. Some more communication even if it was to say we'll make a statement sonn please be patient would have appeased many.

I disagree with what you say about not being able to do anything so we should just accept it. Did emily Pankhurst just accept that women had no right to vote? Did the world just accept that South Africa had a system called Apartheid. If we feel strongly about something then we should stand up and be counted. Let people know they can't treat us badly.

That is not to say that we should be anything other than steadfast in our support of the team. I will be there on Friday the same as always!!!
