Dons troubles started mainly due to the fact that John Desmond sold Tattersfield to Brian Waldron without the knowledge of the clubs other directors, shareholders & supporters and the club as never recovered from the loss of its ancestral home,at Tattersfield the club had income from the bar & car park and the bulk of the clubs supporters lived on that side of town.
To be fair to Brian Waldron he offered to let David Prime & his other directors the use of the ground for the newly formed Doncaster Dragons but they couldn't reach agreement over the rent and opted to play at the Meadow Court stadium hence the reason the stands etc were demolished so quickly.
To date no planning permission as been granted to re-develop the site of Tattersfield but there could be good reasons for this

If Tattersfield cant be used for anything other than sport would playing there again be an option in the future if the club had to be re-launched or re-born Geoff?

I would think the cost to build a stadium there would be prohibitive

totally agree with you geoff.i think the rent mentioned at that time was around the£600 a week +,which im sure the fans would have gladly stumped up if any one had bothered to ask.im sure there was a little more to it than that, sure it may have had something todo with others parties .

I understand that when Len Tattersfield bought the plot of land where Tattersfield stands he put a covenant on the deeds which stated the plot of land could only be used for sporting activities.
I have spent many hours trying to trace Len Tattersfields daughter who I understand is a solicitor to see if she could confirm this.

If you are some gloating Widnes fan ......then you know what you can do.....

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

Thank God I'm an atheist.
