There were only 3 forwards to start with. Walcott is not a striker, he's a winger. A provider more than a scorer. He misses a lot more than he scores, and blows hot and cold. Apart from that...
He also picked up an injury last night and is a major doubt for the final. As for provider apart from his pace which gives him the ability to beat a player what else does he have to his game? Lennon has more of an end product compaired to Walcott

You see, I disagree. I think for club & country he's more of a frontman, doing a job on the wing. He looks to be a forward when I've watched him, certainly at Southampton. I remember a CL game for Arsenal, he played up front & scored a brilliant hat trick. Think IIRC Arsenal won that game something daft like 8-0, but it was a CL group stage game, anyhow, Walcott was frightening that night. With that pace he's got, he'd be a nightmare for big centre halves if he played on the shoulder of the last defender.
I think Wenger just sticks him out wide as he likes his younger players to learn the game, like Henry did, but his future definately lies through the middle. But like that hat-trick in Croatia, I think he's finishing is pretty good, he was very composed for his hat-trick goal in Croatia, as he was when he scored two brilliant goals for the 21's a year or wto back, think it may have been against Germany, he scored two goals, Henry esque finishes they were, across the keeper, pretty sure they earnt England the result they needed to qualify for a tournament.

As I said, he blows hot and cold. He can be brilliant, but yesterday he was anonymous and every time he got the ball he wasted it, usually with a poor speculative shot.
The fact remains that, in the short term for this tournament, England have been caught short of strikers. One or two of the midfielders will have to step up.

Lennon has no end product whatsoever. Walcott has a lot to work on but is still far better than Lennon.

Had to laugh the other day when i saw a shedload of new Liverpool away kits for sale in a sports shop in Hull, with a poster stuck on the railings saying "Every Team Needs A 12th Man". Surely it should have said underneath "And this is a tribute to ours. Well, they wore black once upon a time".

Lennon has his pace to beat a man and nothing else, Walcott has his pace to beat a man and nothing else.
From what i've seen of Wallcott this year he offers very little apart from pace outwide i just wish that he'd have had a manager like Fergie who would have tryed to sort out the rest of his game.

If this is true, this is an awesome signing for them.
SSN are claiming a big offer has been made from City for Eto'o.
They could be really strong contenders for the top 4 next season. If they get Eto'o and Tevez along with a Centre Half, they'll have a very competitive squad.

Conf Cup 3rd/4th play-off South Africa 2 Spain 2. Extra time.
South Africa were leading 1 - 0 with 2 minutes left and looked to have it won. Spain then scored twice and looked to have stolen it. South Africa equalised 3 minutes into added time. Half the crowd had left, thinking SA had lost - don't know whether they can get back in again.
