Hertel (sponsors) bankrolled Davies IIRC (Widnes could not pay his contract), not sure about Andy Greg but we were semi-pro then anyway. Period 2006 onwards wasnt to do with divine rights, we were'nt even on the same page to compete due to choice of coach.
It would be interesting to know why, this skint club (as you moot), could afford the likes of Blake, Boyd, Roach, Davidson et al in a pre-SL era without TV money.

We didn't seem to ruin Scully or Harris.
first point,bucket colllections,never happened,2nd point all these were not goood enough anyway,third point our crooked chairman sold them and trousered the cash,hence simon came in and sorted the clubs finances out and here we are.

2...playing under the national teams coach..
3...better chance of honours

Semi-pro in 1985? Very minimal pro, with Mike Gregory being the only fulltime player.
Have you read what I wrote? Up to the mid-90's we were competitve, frpm about '96 onwards we went to bits.
Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

We couldn't afford them.Thats the reason we nearly went bust and came close to getting relagated.

Who mentioned ruining Harris? The point about Harris is,that he was poached by Leeds via a 3rd party,the same is happening with us and Myler.and imo,the sooner the rfl,clamp downt on this the better,just to prove that the franchise system works and not that the farce that its turned into.
