The problem is that ,because of what he has done, supporters have turned him into some kind of 'God like' figure who can do no wrong and, having built him up are now ready to hammer him with criticism.
He is not perfect and has made loads of mistakes ,as we all would. I never bought into the new stadium dream totally, and thought it would end in tears and I really hope that I turn out to be wrong.
The bottom line is that there is no point in slagging JW off.He has gone for the dream and, even if it doesn't work out ,we have been far better off with him than we would have been without him.
Plan B would be worth starting work on ,though !!
You need to be very careful of taking the ' renting a council facility ' route
Yes you might end up with a shiny concrete box to play in , but unless you run it and get revenue off it , you might end up like we are at Leigh
Not good

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
Staggered and disappointed at those knocking JAW. GT & TR make siome very good points in defence and the people pushing for him to go still have not put up any plausible alternative. Its put up or shut up time for them, preferably the former.
john wilkinson as done is best with resorces he as got if the person who wants wilkinson to go in to debt is willing to go in to debt why dont you seen as you care that much for the club why dont you take the debts on
I had many dealings with Oldham Bears (remember them?) until they went bust. I watched the great hope of Doncaster ... until they went bust. I live in Rochdale .... who went bust.
I promise you all that had JW been in any of these towns, there would have been less promises and they would have a club without these histories. Their fans envy us for him.
Too many are happy to spend money they have not got and criticise for decisions they could not make.
RED FLAG RISING, Red Joldsworth, RED LEAGUE, and (especially) red13pjb; I put it to you to buy the club with the profits you obviously are making from your hot-air exploits and organic fertiliser spreading.
You could not make it up.

My only argument has to be that we show a lack of ambition , its so disheartning seeing teams around us do well and grow and get better with new stadiums and bigger crowds and play attractive rugby, and were still the same shower of poop we always have been, no progress whatsoever, so I think the buck has to stop with JW, he is a lovely fella, but who honestly thinks he has the ambition to push us on and do you feel he is really selling the club to the right people , i.e. perspective owners . Its all well and good saying without him we wouldn't be in SL , well in 2 years time we won't be anyway and there doesn't seem to be any urgency from the club or JW to address this

Can you tell me which clubs you're referring to? Are they punching above their weight or at the level that you might expect them to be?
I'm a Leigh fan and would have happily have seen JW at Leigh doing the job he's done for you.

I think this is where some people have short memories (and I don't just mean you KMT).
'Teams around us' (ie. teams who have been around the bottom of SL and/or top of NL1) during the Super League era have included Paris, Rochdale, Oldham, London, Widnes, Leigh, Halifax, Gateshead, Sheffield, Keighley and Workington, who have all either gone bust or are playing at a lower level than us currently.
Of the teams who are currently above us Saints, Leeds, Wigan, Bradford and Hull have remained above us consistently for a number of years - they are also the only teams that have won anything worth talking about for a number of years.
That only leaves Wire, Wakey, Huddersfield, Cas and Hull KR who could be considered 'teams around us' that are currently above us.
- Wire have a very rich sugar-daddy who has poured money into the club but has nothing to show for it except a shiny new soulless box to play in.
- Huddersfield have been kept alive by the RFL/SL - two years of not being relegated when they finished bottom then the Sheffield 'merger'.
- Wakefield are enjoying some form under Kear, and I don't begrudge them that, but their ground is still poor and their fans are still wary of losing their best players (eg. Atkins) to 'bigger' clubs.
- Hull KR have come good over the last couple of seasons under Morgan but still play in the worst ground in SL.
- We are exactly where Cas were 12 months ago.
I can understand frustration that we don't have Wire's ground or financial colout, or the current form of Wakey, Hudds or Hull KR. However, as we are still in business, haven't broken the salary cap and are still in SL, I reckon we've done pretty well over recent times.

Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book
Oh my God some people don't listen or read very well at all do you. I have made numerous posts as have many others with the same theme.
Lets get this straight shall we?
We know JW has spent Hundreds of Thousands of Pounds on the club!!!!!!! Our issue is that most of it has been wasted on players who don't fit the bill.
JW has kept the club alive I admit but after 25 years you would expect to be further on and the fact is we are not. The lagacy he will leave if indeed he does call it a day now is a club with NO GROUND, POOR TEAM, AND NO TROPHIES
Will the penny finally drop now!!! Spending money in is great; Pi$$ing it up the wall is another matter!!!!![/b]
