I have commented on the atmosphere on another thread. It was as suggested above more like mates chatting with some geezers throwing a ball around in the background. Without a new stadium i fear we will be consigned to the Rugby League backwaters for some considerable time. Looking at it in a mathamatical light, If we lose out in the next round of franchises thats three years at least and are SL then in 2015 going to give a franchise to a "failed" team. I doubt it. So in effect we miss out in 2012 and not trusted in 2015 making in 2018 before we have any relistic chance of getting back in, 9 years from now. I am only playing devils advocate here and not suggesting the above will happen but with the franchising system it can happen. I cannot see a time when our crowds improve in the next two years (i accept there are lots of reasons economically why fans dont come) to the levels required. As a team we have had highs this season but that last night smacked of the general malaise around the club at the moment. The moment Jeremy Smith turned his back on the play and the ball bounced off him was heavily symbolic. Players, fans and the SL are i fear all doing the same to Salford RLFC (Luke Adamson a rare and noble exception)

Thats based of the assertion that there is a team to be removed by then. Just cos we might fit the recommendations to be readmitted with a franchise doesn't necesarily mean one needs to be replaced. Hence the reason why alot of people believe it will be a closed shop in all but name.

Insane teacher be there reminded of the rhyme.
There'll be no mutant enemy we shall certify;
Political ends, as sad remains, will die.
Fungus, your right it is based on assuming someone gets replaced. That might be us or anyone who the SL see fit to remove. The crowd at the Barcelona hosted game last week will have had the money men of SL creaming themselves with excitement. IF a team is removed then maybe someone to keep Catalans company and further the expantion of the game may be offered a spot. Barcelona im sure resonates louder globally than Salford, Wakefield, Castleford et al.. as i say im just espousing possible scenarios. Being the Private Fraser type i am it comes naturally to be pessamistic

Down to £10 entrance for next season would see a lot more going, the price is just too much and that's why I go to 4 or 5 matches a season rather than 10-15.

I was actually looking forward to last night, first home game in ages, nice weather a chance to meet up with people again have a pint and a chat.
What happens...
An absolute joke of a performance.
Huddersfield were not much better and that is saying something.
Maybe they all know the stadium is not on its way so they think whats the point. Thats the impression I got, a team except Ratchford and maybe a couple of others who could not care less.
Sibbitt,Stapleton,Littler,Paul all know there time is up at the end of this season and dont they show it.
As for Smith, dont even get me started.
People keep saying the players in reserve are not good enough, well if they can not improve on that last night then we are in the $hit
Radical changes are needed, Lets try and put players in their natural positions. Get rid of the do not care brigade and guess what you can pass the ball wide mr Mc Crae.

i have never heard the shed so quiet as it was last night, fair enough it was a poor game i thought both teams were poor at times but even so there is usually a fair bit of racket from the shed, last night i heard only boo's and moaning
keep the faith guys, you've shown with your wins over us, bradford and leeds than you can mix it with the rest.
the Claret And Gold Machine is ready to roll
sunday September 1st 2013, when a dream became a reality!!
Firstly when you mioved the ball last night you looked quite good and entertaining..
Some good players in Ratchford, sibbit and the aussie prop ( forgot his name).
SELL MYLER NOW. Let him go and use the £250,000 to buy spend SC money and get 5 good players in . With Robbie going you will have good SC money left.
Bring some local kids in who are committed to the jersey.
Try to come to an arrangement with city and united to give them a season ticket for £50 for there season ticket holders limited to the first 3000. Fill the ground for every game and give the place a buzz. Better 5000 paying a tenner than 2500 paying £20.
the extra money from merchandising will make up any shortfall.
I am not sure what you are doing regards community development but why is yoiur team not packed with big rough tough black kids from Moss side. lat night and in our academy we are getting loads of afro carribean players playing and they are local kids.
Do not give me any sh!!te about Manchester being a soccer city. How many local kids can pay to get into city or united i am guesssing £500 for a season ticket. You can easily compete on price, excitement and with a few decent players really make inroads.
Salford, i would suggest you link up with United and become MURL. That will give you a huge level of publicity and access to markets which will make you stronger. If that is unpalatable to the blue half then you should become the Manchester mutants and become a Manchester team to get the support in.
I love salford and going there from the days i saw Keith fielding playing. But you are losing the opportunity to develop, holding RL back and unless you get the stadium will be out of SL. Rl needs Manchester and whether that is Salford or someone else then so be it.
Huddersfield Giants 2013 over achievers
Huddersfield Giants 2014 under achievers ??????????
