I'd rather the refs practice zero tolerance and are consistant than try to interprit what rules they penalise and which ones they dont.
This isnt a gripe, because it was a fair penalty, but take Sculthorpe being penalised for holding the tackler down on Friday night, he hadnt slowed the game down any more than any number of tacklers that had held on, had a second push or anything, yet none of them got penalised, why?
if there was zero tolerance there would be a penalty pretty much every play

No it wouldnt, and if it was the coaches would soon start to stamp it out and players would soon learn
Half a game it would take for players to get the message.
IIRC Tony Smith when he was coach of Hudds when we were in the NFP asked the ref for zero tollerance, the ref duly obliged and for the first 20 there was penalty after penalty for both sides.
Then the learned the lesson and played the game properly, to the rules...

The Penatly from sculthorpe was because we was trying to hold the man so he would get a penatly and was caught. Right Decision in my opinion. I dont know how you can complain about holding down you do it as much as anyone else.

Can you read more than one post Phil? Or even a whole one?
Try it, you might understand what I was saying. Feel free to point out where I was complaining, maybe where it was just after I said "both sides" or "it was a fair penalty"?
For me it was an exact reversal of the Cas home game .... you had all the second half possesion but weren't good enough to convert the chances.
Sometimes games go that way ..... Cas did what they needed to do to stop our losing streak and it was up to Hudds to break us down... unfortunately for you and fortunately for us you had 'one of those days'
On the other note I agree I think zero tolerance is the right way for ref's to go ..... it would take a week or two for teams to completely clean up the play the ball area and increase the speed of the game. luckily for Hudds that won't be happening any time soon ( joke ... )

i think what code13 is tryin to say is that yes sculthorpe was stupid and yes it was a penalty BUT other players from both sides had been holding down and tryin to con penalties and generally messing around but ganson chose to let them go but chose to penalise sculthorpe for it
i think im right in saying
