Anasta, I mentioned a while back, he'd rip SL apart, but I don't think he'll leave, with the club like it is, depending on the coach they bring in will depend who stays and goes with them, as it's the same with us
There is no chance he is going to play rep anytime soon with Prince, Lockyer and Thurston all above him in the pecking order. He's already done everything with Melbourne so offer him a big deal and you never know, there is no doubt he would be perfect for us.
I disagree Roberts would be a better signing, he would be a good signing but not as good as Cronk IMO. He isn't the organising half we need to partner Sam, he is also playing off the back of a very good set of forwards and Brett Kimmorley. Whereas Cronk does play on the back of a dominant pack but is the main guy for Melbourne when it comes to leading the team around the field
Anasta would be a good signing but would depend on who the Roosters bring in as coach

Failing that I bet Anasta feels lower than whale shi'ite at the min with not being picked for Aus and NSW, Roosters are crap and he has just been ruled out for the season. I bet he wants to get the hell outa there so strike while the iron is hot IL and offer him an escape.
After all he is only 27 and is Greek so wouldn't count on the overseas quota and we could get 5 years out of him.
I can't remember how the overseas trained quota works but could this leave us with something like...
1. Phelps (cheap and adequate, quota)
2. Roberts (stuck with him, quota)
3. Gleeson
4. Carmont (overseas trained but not on the quota?)
5. Richards (overseas trained? quota or irish?)
6. Anasta (overseas trained but not quota?)
7. Tomkins
8. Fielden
9. Riddell (quota)
10. Palea'aesina (quota?)
11. Hock
12. Tomkins
13. O'Loughlin
14. Leuluai (overseas trained/quota?)
15. Webb (quota)
16. Precott/O'Carroll (with one on loan)
17. Mossop
19. Ainscough (on cover for another year)
with Goulding, Pryce, McIlorum, Flanagan/Farrell also on loan?

Edited if IL splashes the cash. There is no point buying crap and being cheap when re building a club. If we bought those players we would be top of the league.
Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.
I like the idea of us buying Carl Webb as much I enjoyed the idea of Roberts, Smith, Phelps and Riddell.
Its just whether they will pull their fingers out if they come over and if truth be told I think Webb would be in the same group as the names few aussies IMO.
If we are to rebuild we cant do it on the cheap neither can we do it with average aussies/kiwis/english or Wigan lads.
Also if I were IL I would see whether Ellis is enjoying it at Wests because if he weren't settling I would have him on the next flight home and he can be 12 next year.

Kimmorley - Probably wouldn't come due to Canterbury ripping it up this year, decent player mind.
Lockyer - I would love to have him here, play him inside Lockers and Gleeson though. It depends on Lockyer.
Finch - Not overly convinced, he has talent but it applying it and doing it when the going gets tough. He can be flashy but he seems touch and go we need someone like Barrett who doesn't pack in and keeps at them all game someone who works hard for the team. If Finch came over I would suspect it because he wanted a retirement/holiday/pi55 up. And play well every other game.
Add to those Cooper Cronk and Anasta.
Over all I would go for Cronk.
Anasta is a 6 or 13. Not a scrum half. Secondly, he did his knee in yesterday.

Did you watch Webb against the Roosters yesterday? Average.
