If I'm reading this correctly, only half his wage would count on the salary cap for 2010. Same for Paul Wood too.

That's the way I would read it. I know Briers will be on a fair bit, but how much is Paul Wood likely to be on?

Essentially, it will be somewhere between staying at his current wage, thus allowing half of that figure to be spent elsehwere, or sign a 'double your money' contract that take up no extra room on the cap.

We're the first ones to starve, we're the first ones to die
The first ones in line for that pie-in-the-sky
And we're always the last when the cream is shared out
For the worker is working when the fat cat's about

Quite a significant change as previously for those with ten years service to the club, it was a pool of £50,000 split between any with 10 year service.

Could be worth it maybe.

Of course, whether Warrington would want to still pay him top wages is another question, even if only half counted towrds the salaray cap!!

Briers can no longer command top wages.

Anyhow i think its in everyones best interests if Briers moves on to pastures new.

Why would you want to keep lee briers for another year, why not get a younger better version of him be it aussie NZ or British I couldn't care less where his replacement comes from but I would prefer him replaced and if Myler is coming I would prefer someone with experience at a high level Matt Orford would be my choice,If Briers was kept it would have to be on a pay as you play basis and on a reduced contract ,I however already think (or should i say hope ) he has signed for Barrow! Lee has been a good servant to the club but he is past his best now and needs replacing sooner rather than later !
