Also given that Myler, completely understandably, chose to concentrate on his fledgling career rather than offer any loyalty to his home-town club, can we really be so surprised if he takes a mega-bucks offer rather than pledge his long-term future to a club that must be under serious threat of its Super League place in 2 years time due to the continued silence over the stadium?
Naturally I'd love Richie to stay at Salford & be a key player for many, many years to come but I just can't see it. Now if we lose Adamson and/or Ratchford as well, then I'll be seriously p****d off!
I agree.
I was just arguing the point that the Club has done a little more than stuff him into a No. 7 jersey.
I don't begrudge the lad a shot at something bigger. I'd love for him to stay, but RL is a short career at best so he should do what he feels is best for his future. I wont condone him for that, and everything he has done for the club so far.
I see the opportunity as a few quid made, and as long as it is invested wisely, I have no problem with it. After all, we are a club that needs these kind of financial boosts to further the next level.

In a way I completely agree with you...
If he does stay and signs another contract I get the feeling that you will be in the unfavourable position where every now and again it is rumoured that he will be leaving and I think you're best rid of a player that Offiah see's as a means of him making more money.
I think it was unfair to the club to have publicly stated the kings ransom thing but at least we all know what type of a man Offiah continues to be.
I said above and strongly believe that Stefan Ratchfords your man. With Myler out the picture I think this guy will kick on!! Without wanting to get too far ahead it's far more likely that this guy will become a Salford legend and do it for the love of the club rather than the lure of the money.

Best of luck with it all anyway. Chris
I agree with you on this one
Stefan is one of our own (although he comes from Wigan) he has come through the youth system and is Salford through and through.
I would be seriously pi$$ed of to lose our players brought through the ranks.
Richie Myler has unfortunately not come through the system so probably will not have as much affinity with the club as many of the other younger players.
Unfortunately I am biased when it comes to Salford (surprise ,surprise) and can not understand why anyone would want to leave .
Finally how about Turner/Ratchford for a half back combination if Richie does leave.

I have great sympathy for Salford here as they clearly gave Myler the pathway into SL,sadly nowadays this counts for jack, and i believe that he will leave at the end of the season to the highest contract bidder,at least whilst Myler is still under contract, you will at least get a fee for him
Brian McDermott paraphrased Peter Fox. "He'd say if we had 13 Bernard Dwyers we wouldn't lose many RL games. It's the same for us with JJB"

If Myler does leave Salford, I can understand some people criticising him and citing loyalty. I may not agree with it but I can understand it.
However I don't understand how he was disloyal to widnes. What was he supposed to do? Hang around in the off chance the club was saved from oblivion for a 2nd time? Does he pay his bills using magic beans and a cow?
Whatever decision he makes, he's earned the right to make that decision and althought it may be galling to lose him I can't see how Salford lose. They either keep him or get a wedge of cash I expect.
Warrington's ability to purchase players is driven by two things - the owner and the stadium. Get one or both of those sorted out (on the correct terms) and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

i hope richie stays and we build a team around him, we have the talent in ratchford turner adamson and sidlow just to name a few..... we could have a really competitive side on the future with are crop of youngsters so here's hoping he signs that contract
The Eric Shaw Prediction League NL1 and NRC Champion 2008 SALFORD TILL I DIE SALFORD RUGBY WILL NEVER DIE
I've just said on the Wire forum i hope he stays at Salford if only for the next year or 2. If you look at it from an international point of view the lad is developing very nicely at Salford where with all due respect he's a huge fish is a small pond. He is the main man and has abit of a licenece to play his own game.
I don't think he needs the pressure of a move to a Warrington or Wigan where he'll get expectation heaped on his shoulders and will get stick from fans if things don't quite work out within the first 6months.
The kids only 19 and staying at Salford will be the best for him long term. If the new Stadium comes maybe Salford can fufill his ambitions anyway and he'll stay for years and years but if not a big money move will always be on the cards for him without rushing into one too soon.
