Like I said, if that's what they think they're worth then so be it.
With shirt sales and merchandising and all the other spin-offs that will entail from those two signings I'm sure they'll get plenty of that back.
Could you say the same for Valencia?

The lad has said he wants to move and Dave Whelan has acknowledged this, saying he won't stand in his way as long as the offer is satisfactory. With only one club still in for him there's no chance of a bidding war, something United really couldn't win.
Woah, hang on. I'm on about Valencia's (the clubs) asking price for Villa, not Valencia the player! As far as I'm concerned, Madrid haven't said much on Antonio Valencia, but have revealed (apparently) that they may end their interest in Valencia's ( ) David Villa.

It's a kind of sticky situation. Valencia aren't mugs and they know Madrid have stupendous amounts to spend, they know Perez wants Villa a lot, and they know there are other interested parties, however, Valencia do have time on their side, but they can't play hardball all summer, because they have to sell him. They're obviously pumping the fee up, but now Madrid have said they're not interested, and they have all summer to try and sign Benzema, it may just force Valencia to give up.
Problem with Madrid and their players is, other clubs know they also have to sell players. They have too many players at the club, I'm pretty sure there's a rule that they can only have 25 players in the squad, and they're currently over that. Players like Robben and Sneijder will all command hefty fees, but the sides interested know they can bide their time and force Madrid to drop the fee.
I'm glad they've dropped interest in Alonso. See, things are different with us, Alonso is under a lengthy contract and we don't need to sell at all, so only something stupendous will force our hand, something I don't think Madrid are willing to do for a player who won't bring as much in return in terms of shirt sales and so on.

I'm confused now.
Lets hope Aston Villa and Valencia CF don't meet in Europe!

ok ok. You now know what I think about Antonio Valencia.
Read a few posts up and you'll see what I think about Valencia football club and the David Villa situation.

I can Benzema going to Real, Villa to Barca and Utd ending up with Huntelaar and Valencia

I'd love that, Paul.
I don't rate Huntelaar at all, he has no pace and I wouldn't call him particularly dominant, he can score, but the top sides need much more than that in today's game.
If Barca sign Villa, you could sign Eto'o, I know people will say 'well Eto'o's only a finisher', but he has more to his game than Huntelaar: he's quicker, has better movement and he can do more with the ball at his feet, he can also do a shift in the wider areas as you all saw in the final
I'm surprised nobody other than Milan have gone after that Dzeko, I've heard he's class.
United could well have the perfect chance now to sign Villa, Madrid are playing games, Barca have made a bid but they still have Eto'o on their books, so they may bide their time and wait for him to leave, whereas United are on the verge of earning a world record fee for a player, so they could well steal in and get him. Hope not, though
I wouldn't mind Huntelaar. From what I've seen, he's a proper striker. Berba and Rooney like to drop deep, so he could be a great asset as a proper front man.
I can't help but think that it's something like that which Fergie will do. We won't get Villa, Ribery or anyone like that. We will probably go for Huntelaar at about £15m-£20m, Valencia at about £16m and a few kids in the Nani and Anderson mould.
One thing I would like is a midfield workhorse as cover for the curly one, should he not come back at 100%.
