Man United had borrowings of £524m in the latest published accounts, according to a Financial Times article. But the Glazers bought the club for nearly £800m and the club will probably be worth anything from £750m to a billion. So there's no real problem there.
Chelsea's debts are to Roman Abramovich. Where's the problem there?
From the reports it seems that Liverpool are struggling to come up with cash to pay the latest round of interest payments. There is talk of new owners being brought in because the present owners don't have, or aren't willing to invest, the necessary funds the club needs.
The situation surrounding Liverpool seems to be a similar one that surrounded Chelsea when Abramovich bought the club.
