What I watched tonight was not how the 'greatest game' should be played and I fear for the game if this is the way it's going.

There are a few major flaws in the game I feel.

Firstly, the amount of forward passes on show was astounding, and this was from both sides. Now, this is nothing new but it is an issue that needs raised to the referees. This year it seems, they are becoming more and more the norm and are un-noticed by the man in the middle, this is a catalyst in which players think they can get away with it and indeed they do.

Another point I want to raise is the 'double movement' or, in this case the lack of it. I was certain Scott Moore's arm hit the deck before he reached over for the try, the replays showed the movement only once and I found it quite conclusive to be a no try (Unbiased view IMHO) Now, that was a key decision so how could Alibert be so confident in his decision?

The third point I want to make, is the ‘back to one’ rule. I hadn’t realised that if the ball hits the floor the tackle count is automatically wiped clear. This, however seems to be common when Mr Silverwood is the referee in the middle so I reserve judgement. The rule kills the defence especially near their own line. It’s rather a false way and gives far too much of an advantage to the attacking team.
When the attacking team kicks near an opposition line is another factor, don’t get me wrong, I like to see good attacking flair, mostly with ball in hand might I add but there can be fantastic tries being scored with purposeful intricate plays. Drilling a ball at an oppositions body is not skill however, as a bus driver could employ that tactic, but once again, the ball tonight on two occasions, one Rovers and one Huddersfield went to the attacking team. Whatever happened to ‘playing at the ball’, Cockayne for example turned his back against the play and the ball hit him on the shin and he made no attempt to charge it down at all. The Hudds player did the same but the scrum was given the other way.
I’ve liked Super League and take a great interest no matter who is playing, but tonight’s game was maybe the first game I’ve seen where it didn’t thrill me or entertain me as there was little skill involved with a lot of plays from both sides. The ridiculous rules and decisions are slowly deteriating the game.
I thought Briscoe had another smashing game, aswell as Galea at Stand-off. There were a few ‘dumb plays’ made by Rovers and it needs addressing. There is also never 16 points between the two sides based on tonight’s game.
No doubt a few feckwits will respond to the post though. :/

What makes you say that?

Games today go on little things if, buts, and maybe's if Fox had grounded the ball and made it 12-12 would the outcome really be 16 points to Hudds, I don't think so...

To say they were 'well beaten' is a bit drastic.

Yes, but not this year.

However, we've proved that we can beat you twice in one season.

You reckon you can win SL? Go on, make me laugh!

Neither Hull KR or Huddersfield will win Super League on that performance tonight.

That is safe to say.

I'm not the one to have blind optimism, but even so, Rovers and Hudds have done very well to be in the top four and I know my aim this year was to finish in the top four. Anything else is a bonus.
