Should the NRL be doing more to push rugby league in asia, as only a small share of the market in east asia (japan, china, thailand etc....) gives access to millions of potential supporters. Maybe they do do some work behind the scenes but in my opinion you need to be seen to be doing something such as an exhibition game in Hong Kong, Shanghai or Tokyo. And i beleive they need to do it soon as i read somewhere the afl are holding an exhibition game in Hong Kong? and Unions intentions are well known in the region.
People in japan, china always seem desperate for the next sport to come from the west and it inevitabley becomes a niche market generating a lot of money, so i think the NRL, ARL and maybe even the RFL should seek to push rugby league in the region. A regular pre-season game would be a good start, or perhaps host the mid-season test or WCC in a major city and put a lot of effort into marketing it.
