Salford-Myler > Long Wigan-Leuluai > Long Warrington- Monaghan vs Long debatable Cas-Sherwin vs Long debatable Wakey- Brough > Long Huddersfield-Robinson vs Long debatable
Myler is not as good as Long (yet) infact if you watch him play he plays more like a stand off, running game and good support play.
Leuluai is no where near as good as long and looks best playing at hooker like he did in the world cup.
Monaghan has been average while at Warrington, Brough is avearge with a good kicking game.
Robinson has to be joke, why so you think Huddersfiled are trying to replace him for next season, he has a good running game and thats about it.
Sherwin is the only person close I would say they are about on par.
A good short term signing, and hopfully him trying with our young halfbacks will improve them and one will be ready in 2 years time.

If Saints really wanted to keep him then he would still be there next year. The reason they offered a one year deal, is that they knew he wouldn't accept it unless forced.
This was the best way for both the club and Long to save face. The club didn't seem to be throwing a legend on the scrap heap, and Long had a fall back offer if non suitable came along.
That said, I think this could be a very good signing for the darkside, but not in the way most of their supporters think.
He will be a massive improvment on what they currently have.
Yes, he IS a proven commodity and a game winner at the highest level in SL.
On the other side of the fence, FC do not have the players that could support Long and his style of play. Playing behind the saints pack is a totally different prospect to playing behind the current crap (opps crop) at FC. When players get old the tend to have a slower recovery rate, and lets face it FC don't have the best record with injuries.
Worth a gamble though if you ask me, (I know you didn't) as they are very unlikely to sign anyone better in the forceable future.

I agree, Long is light years ahead of Robinson, even at 32.
