Had a quick look through this thread and there seems to be some reference by Rovers fans to this 'greatest game of rugby'.

Have I missed something, first half was poor, 2nd half had a good last 20 mins and then the exciting extra time.

Far from the a great game I thought. Wire just had more momentum going into extra time.

I try and stay objective when it comes to commenting on Hull FC, I have a lot of friends from the dark side and to be quite honest with you I'm really not that ar5ed whether they win lose or draw unless they're playing us. In fact a part of me would like to see them finishing 2nd in the league runners up in the GF and CC as long as we won the lot. A bit of inner city competition is good for the banter and the city.

What has surprised me is the bitterness with which they seem to show us that never seems to go the other way, yes we like to see them get beat, and it's good of them to let us have our wish every more often then not but there seems to be an underlying nastiness from them now we're succeeding. I've had reasonably rational friends of mine telling me how Lee Briers is there hero, wearing Warrington shirts and generally taking more glee out of us losing then they have out of winning themselves.

Having pondered this for a while I believe it comes down to a few points,

Firstly there is in built arrogance that they should be the top club in the city. Where was that written in to RL law. This seems to stem from a club that believes they are a top 4 club, yet another falicy, how come a top 4 club in the last 20 years has only won 1 trophy, been in 2 other finals and only finished top 4 twice....

Looking at the recent history of their club it all becomes a bit more apparent as to where the bitternesscomes from, we are looking at a club that when hard times looked like hitting decided to sell their name, their colours and their beloved home ground. They became a corporate entitiy run by faceless business people who given a different set of circumstances would never have set a foot in Hull. They may in recent times after crashing another club have recaptured their name and colours but they will never regain the main thing they sold which is the soul, heart and spirit of their club. Yes they may be sat in a nice seat, but its a corporate monlith lacking in atmosphere that is a totem of all that is rotten within their club.

They took the easy option of keeping their top flight status by selling out and now they are reaping what was sowed, cheap options in all levels of staff, lack of passion from the top down and lack of an identity. Dull playing styles that are now ingrained in the club, a short term win is all that matters as long as it can be cashed in on.

We can hold our heads high and say our club is still our club, we will carry on progressing and if that meansthe dull side gets more bitter then so be it.

Please explain the 'Bull poop' in the middle... Yes we sold our ground as it was a cheaper option then renovating the old one. We then used the money to finance the new one. For me that was one of the biggest mistakes we ever made, it was the start of the end and it's took us the best part of 20 years to get those times back. I think you'll find you're heading down the same road. What we never sold was our club.

Recent events have just confirmed my initial post.. Signing shaun long on a two year deal when Orford or Thurston were apparently knocking down your door. So thats a 2 32 year olds taking the lions share of your cap and why. It'll sell a few shirts, can see it now, No7 Long shirts hardly worn when he joins your never ending injury list

I've had the decency to answer your post now do me a favour and answer my original points constructively...

Yes we did sell our stadium, big deal, when you compare it to the fact FC sold their soul.

You can dress it up how you like, you did what you did to survive, now you are reaping the "rewards."

Just my and obviously Bahram Red's opinion, I have never posted it as you just get the usual arguments afterwards, but seeing as he did, I commented that it was a top post.

We sold our ground for for exactly same reasons and in hindsight it was the best thing to happen to the club.

The reason why i called your post bull poop is because as usual you lot go on about us merging/selling the club etc etc but seem to forget about your clubs financial history

I'll reserve judgement on our signings till they're all complete.
