Atlético make uncharacteristically easy work of doing something by beating Almeria 3-0 to clinch 4th place, Forlan scores another belter to take his tally to 32.
Villarreal and Valencia both win to take the Europa League spots.

Not a bad campaign in the end for Atletico, 4th spot and an unlucky exit from the Champions League without losing a game.
They've already made a couple of decent signings for next season as well, Juanito and Sergio Asenjo.

Fantastic achievement for Forlan.
alot of his goals are pretty hard to score also, if he could put away more 'sitters' he would have had plenty more.

An experienced La Liga defender should provide a much needed boost to the often dodgy defence, but Atlético seem to have a habit of making reasonable defenders into shoddy ones, Asenjo is a promising keeper and so an experienced centre half like Juanito should help him settle too.
Still short of a top drawer midfielder, and good enough cover for any of the attacking quartet to even think about pushing on towards the top two though, strong links with Emmanuel Eboue don't inspire much confidence either.
Maybe, Marc Janko of Red Bull Salzburg needs to score 4 this afternoon against Altach to overhaul him, and he managed it when they played earlier in the season!
