A few days after Doncaster put in a sterling effort against probable title winners Halifax, Sheffield have spanked pretenders Toulouse. Sheffield has the potential to be a hot bed now.
I saw enough of Sheffield against Rovers to know what a decent side they are and their results since haven't surprised me at all.
Well done to the Eagles.

I'M SURE THERE IS NO CORRELATION BETWEEN THE FACT THAT THE FRONT RUNNERS FOR THE 2009 MEDIA WHINGING AWARD ARE FROM GATESHEAD AND HULL FC, FORMERLY THE B*ST*RD-TWINS OF ONE OF RUGBY LEAGUE'S LOUSIER IDEAS.
Surely a SL club in a major city like Sheffield would offer a lot more to Super League than small Yorkshire places like Castleford or Wakefield. There should obviously be no more Yorkshire teams than there are at the moment so one of these, and probably both, should make way in the next round of franchises.

Without doubt , I'm sure the few hundred Sheffield fans will be happy to know that you are willing to ' bankroll ' their club for ten years until they are in a position to be able to finance thenselves
Well done for your generosity

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Disagree to be honest. When they were in SL, Sheffield never reached the level of support that Cas and Wakey both have (despite Sheffield being bigger then both towns combined), and never would IMO.

Isn't there a stat that suggests Cas are the best supported club per population? Add to that the fact that Cas, Wakey and Fev fans all have a shirt of each club at home just in case on has a bit more glory than the other, and we have a well supported small part of Yorkshire.

Yeah, isn't the population only about 30,000? Great club Cas IMO, and to say Sheffield deserve a franchise more would be insane. Cas is an RL hotbed (i.e. no pro football club to 'compete' with for a start). The Eagles will always struggle to build support in the city because of the size and interest in the Owls and Blades.
