Orford is no spring chicken either, but again his organisational skills are just what we need.
If we sign either of these there will be the raised eye brows about their age, but both are exceptional 7's. The only other option for me would be Finch, but the only advantage he would have over Kimmorley or Orford would be his age. As a player, he is not of the same standard imo.
Personally, I think scrum-half is probably the position where genuine quality can extend a career whilst still playing well. Mainly because if they know what they are doing, they shouldn't need to do as much physical work as other positions and thereby protect themselves a bit. The only issue is if there are any injury question marks. Andrew Johns is a great example, if it hadn't been for his neck he still had more than enough brains to keep playing for another 3 or 4 years.
Why does everyone seem to be desperate for us to land a centre? Imo Whiting has stood up to the mark and I'd be more than happy to see him get the no.3 shirt next season. I think we should be pulling out all the stops to sign Orford and O'Meley, with the additions of Fitzgibbon, Lauaki, and O'Meley we would possilby have the best pack in the league, and with Orford and Horne playing off them, the backs will have a field day. In Raynor and Calderwood we've got two of the fastest wingers in the league, inside them, Yeaman and Whiting who are both very capable centres, add to that Tom Briscoe, and our back line is very strong. So... Hull.FC put your hands in your pockets (tough ask I know) and bring us Matt Orford and Mark O'Meley for 2010.

We can all dream
If Whiting gets a new contract it tells us how much ambition we have, none.
