Of course Wigan didn't have to win tonight. The league season is all about jostling for league positions. Its how your form is when you enter the playoffs that determine your season. Leeds have been absolutely f*cking abysmal this season. We have lost at home to Harlequins, Salford and were less than convincing against Celtic Crusaders. We also lost to an awful Bradford side at Odsal. Yet we are 3rd, with a better points difference than the top team and one win away from leading the competition.
If you think that what goes on between March and August is important then you are very naive.
Are you a tard? Jesus, talk about chatting poop to suit your argument! Ofc what goes on between March and August is important! Errrrm does a clubs league position not help come play off time? No one is denying that you have to have good form at the business end, but lets face it, it doesn't render the rest of the season unimportant.

There's that ego again Oh and btw if you look back in this thread you will find im not getting excited.
I just point out a d**k head when I see one.

My point - which has whizzed over your big, red, stressed up face - is that tonights result in the great scheme of things, means absolutely f-all. Wigan will finish top 8. Hull KR should finish top 8. There are too many poor teams in SL for that NOT to happen.
Yeah sure, if a team sets out to lose every game then they won't be reaching the playoffs. But this top 8 business has pretty much given every team worth their salt at least a shot of glory. Leeds could now lose 10 games in a row, but still scrape 8th place. If they were in the playoffs, could you bet against them going all the way?

Ha ha ha I'm not stressed mate, I'm over the moon, I have seen the club I love make out standing progress over the last four years and it's more than I expected in my wildest dreams. In fact the person who is rattled is you, not that any one expects you to admit it. As for too many poor teams, you may have a point that the comp has been diluted, but given that option, the likes of Leeds and Saints (even playing poorly, as you have stressed) should be whooping ass all over the place. Fact is, they aren't, hence the fact the SL is slowly but surely evening out.
Would I bet against Leeds and Saints going all the way in the play off's? No, and nor me or any one else on this thread so far has stated other wise. The fact is, the other teams have to be in it to win it, so playing well from March to August is important!
To summarise, all your points, apart from having a top eight diluting the comp are horse poop.

I'm unsure as to how I'm rattled. My team (reigning Champions) won tonight, undeservedly so against a Castleford side giving it their all. Two key Leeds players were lost in the first half, we had a boat load of defending to do, and still got 2 points. Which kind of proves my point, but I digress....

Yep, we agree on that. It has made it a farce. Pretty much everyone who can throw a ball can qualify for the playoffs now

No, its a good thing that its levelled up - but from where I'm standing (or sitting) the quality is reducing. Teams aren't coming up to Leeds and Saints' level - thats my point. These teams are coming down. Super League was better to watch (in my opinion) in 2002 for example than it is now, and thats coming from a Leeds fan that saw his side win the league for the first time in 2004 - after a 32 year wait. Maybe its because I was waiting for a league win that made it so intense. I'm not sure.

But my point remains the same. Leeds could be shocking from March to August but still make the playoffs. Same applies to Hull KR. Its not a real achievement to make the top 8!

Unfortunately for our competition (and I mean this sincerely), Leeds and Saints (who have both been very average this season - Leeds bordering on frigging terrible) will be top two, and I suspect will contest the Grand Final. Hull KR may well finish top 4 - but in this competition, thats no great achievement. Do you honestly, hand on heart, see Hull KR going into an elimination playoff against Saints or Leeds and coming out on top?
Yes

Rather sad if you ask me.
