They were both at best 50:50 - had they been given Catalans way, I wouldnt have complained too heartily. Does the benefit of doubt to the attacking team not come into this?

Saints were in possession, the ball rattled round and both times a player from each team was holding onto the ball, it seems logical to play on with the attacking team in possession in that situation.

Anyway, on the second one Carlaw knocked on, so it should have been a scrum to Saints anyway.

I don't agree. I think Thaler's interpretation was pretty much spot-on. I have to fault him on his communication though - he don't call who had the ball and there was also the panalty against Baile where Thaler had called "play on" and then he penalised Baile for a "second" tackle.
I don't think the decisions would have changed the match result, as I think Saints wanted it more than we did and our game plan was not the right one to beat Saints at KR.
What it does change is 3 penalties on the stats that allows tim791 to spout the kind of nonsence he does.

FACT

Read his post again. He says Saints OR Leeds. Not both combined.

Christ, since I first watching Wigan in 1989 we've won 29 trophies - and I don't know Rogues but I do know he has many more years than me watching Wigan, so he could easily have seen us win more than Saints OR Leeds ever have.

We went over the cap by 2% which was minor coz of a payment to a youth player who played for his country.

Other teams have gone over the cap by major amounts on several times but they don't win anything!

Just face it we have won than anyother team thru hard work and pure class.

Overseas payments have helped.

I was avin a debate with damo not you.

I hate wigan and won't have anything to do with them.

They was the only fulltime team thru the 80's and early 90's and won everything coz of it.

They also bought every good player any team had.

Then the game went fulltime with the introduction of super league and wigan has only been champs once since.

Wigan also had a greater salary cap than all other teams when they won super league.

It's no myth that wigan was fulltime! It's fact!

Sounds like a good idea to me. Pity we didn't continue because Saints decided to copy the blueprint for success...
