Yep, and using excuses for transport and accommodation costs is rubbish, I went from Wednesday to Monday and including train/accommodation and match ticket it cost me individually £120.50, ok I had food and drink to buy whilst there but would have had to do similar at home. Edinburgh is only as expensive as a night out in Manchester and you only need spend what you can afford whist there, fast food is the same price as anywhere else and so are the supermarkets, most entertainment in Edinburgh is free i.e. museums and art galleries. I got to see paintings by Van Gogh, Monet, Frans Halls and Rembrant scot free (excuse the pun)! The transport system is second to none, a bus cost £1.20 for any distance and a day ticket is a mere £3.00. The scenery is free too

For mine the only people who are complaining are either those who didnt go, those who just went for the game or those who would have nothing more to say had we actually won the game who would have been upset they missed it had that happenned.

Nobody is forcing anyone to go and watch them play in Edinburgh or anywhere else, if you dont fancy it, cant afford it, think its a scam, think the RFL/Sky are to blame so be it. Shit happens

And if you read the rest of the post you will see this is why I will and cannot pay out any more for sports events.
I choose United, Salford in Perpingan a Holiday abroad and the odd European trip with United.

Each to their own as you say.

I still say no

I say it was ok considering they dont have RL, I think it will be better next year and can't wait, have just looked for hotels and already they have started to get booked up for next year if that doesn't show you how much of a sucess it was then what will,

Fair enough. For what it's worth despite having a good trip I'm not particularly in favour of the magic weekend either so we agree on something.

It did yes, but for some reason some of you are finding any other reason for 'the event' not to be held. FWIW I too think its a rubbish idea, I didn't go to Cardiff as I thought the same then, however some of the excuses for not going are far too fetched. Some people believe the Champions League is in a similar vein but it goes from strength to strength (not comparable with RL, however, opinions are divided). Face facts its now on the RL calandar for the considerable future and whinging about it isn't going to change that its already been and gone this year................Was it a success?, no maybe not for the whole of RL but some clubs picked up an extra two points so I suppose they beleive that they had some success on the field, the media coverage is better than none atall, success there then?, and the place where it was staged was a major success in terms of somewhere to visit. Depends really on how you define success I guess?

isn't wining the game and claiming two points success on the field, If your team don't win then no, but it was a success in bringing all the teams and supporters together in one place to have a good time, I didn't see one argument between fans you can't say that about football

As I have said before the success was for the Scottish Tourist Board.
It is a extra game we just do not need.
Lets get the Sky money, stadium charges, steward costs and everything else involved with the Magic Weekend to be spent on the grass roots. Get kids into the sport so we may one day in my life time win a series against Australia.
That is what I would call a success.

Coming soon - Moscow Magic to get more people out there interested in their RL sides.

I never said you can't have an opinion it's just that in my opinion your opinion doesn't hold as much weight as mine :D

And I can't believe people are using Fancy Dress as a plus point for this thing, either. Is anyone out there still sane?!

But people got cheap transport up on a par with a normal away game. Also a day saver ticket there was just £3. Thats not alot now is it.

Hotel prices were'nt that bad you could camp for £15 theres a YHA in Edinburgh which I bet is also cheap. You just need to use a bit of foward planning

Nope no body has actually said that fancy dress is a plus point, but people having fun is.
