Atkins as been outstanding this season, fair enough he didn't have to best of games against Bradford on Saturday. His overhaul consistency this year should give him a shout. One good thing about Atkins is his physical presence, you have to think who ever plays in the centre against the Aussies is going to have to go up against big guys like Inglis and Falou.

It looks like Wakey are going to get no representation yet again despite having such a good season so far. I'll give my case for a few of our players that we should consider.

Dale Ferguson; An outstanding young prospect that has a massive work rate and some talent with the ball he has played consistently well all season and deserves some kind of recognition. At Hull KR he managed to get through an amazing 60 tackles, I think that says it all about his work rate.

I know a lot of you will laugh at this but Oliver Wilkes has been outstanding with his hard running and defensive work. Most importantly he has been consistent with. He will probably never be taken seriously because of his previous playing record. This guy is at the top of his game at the moment and can do a job as long as his form remains consistent.

Richard Moore could also be considered but I feel it is little too early to step up to International level after just recently coming back from a bad illness. If he can continue his consistent form from the last two season he should be a cert for Autumn Internationals.

Away from Wakey, one player that is playing outstanding at the moment is Jordan Tansey. He performance over the last few week for Sydney Roosters have been nothing short of outstanding. Still at a young age if he can keep his place at the Roosters, it would be nice to see him give Wellens a run for the number 1 shirt. It can only improve you as a player to be playing in the NRL.

It's along the lines of where we need to go though.

Ainscough isn't ready, as bad defensively as Kevin Penny but seems to escape criticism. Also Chris Bridge may challenge Gleeson if he continues his improvement at right centre.

I am stunned Paul Clough doesn't get much more of a mention. Shows how under-rated he is, even amongst Saints' fans.

Look at his stats, the guy constantly takes the ball up first man and makes extra yards with defenders all over him. Very mature in his play for someone so young, and hides his handling skills very well.

Chris Melling is a very good player. I wouldn't laugh at his suggestion of him being a future England full back.

He does a massive amount of work, I'd expect him to be in the squad come the end of the year.

do we need workhorses in the England/GB team?

sure, we need someone who can and will make a lot of tackles, but we need someone to actually create gaps and make breaks.

I really like Clough, he is a very good Super League player and will have a great club career ahead of him - but has he actually broken a tackle this year?

The only second rower in SL I would have over Paul Clough is Gareth Hock.
