How did this man get into RL?

The owner of the london broncos once stage, was he a passionate league fan or was it just another buisness venture for him?

From what i remember he went along to a game one time and enjoyed it so he bought the club. Think it was losing him a lot of money though

I think his son was a fan, that's how he got involved.
He got involved around the start of SL which probably looked like a good time to make an investment. Hindsight probably shows that RL (even most sport in general) is not a great investment if you're in it for the money.

Shame he pulled out, really. He injected a lot of the trademark Virgin feelgood factor into the club, and it coincided with Martin Offiah and Shaun Edwards being at the club, and their appearance at Wembley. I for one thought the club was really going to go places.

But, as said above, it lost a lot of money, and I don't think Branson really saw the situation getting any better, in the main due to the lack of a proper home ground which, of course, goes hand in hand with your ability to pull in a loyal fan base.

Imagine if Harlequins were able to attract Virgin now?

I think Quins would be happy to attract virgins or slappers, in fact anyone who is willing to pay to watch them!

Branson was after a quick buck and when it didn't arrive, he dumped us. I wouldn't want him back in the game..........he spent money on players but didn't market the game at all. I think they call it "field of dreams" marketing...if you build a good team they will come

From what I remember, when he left he paid of your debts.

Doesn't sound too bad too me.

And that is the spin we were given, turned out to be wrong though.
