On the whole Wire played quite well. Kicking game was poor, and it was a shame to have lost so much shape in the backs due to the reshuffle. However, we looked dangerous with the ball and generally caused KR more problems than they posed for us. We needed more possession, especially in the second half, and we didn't get it, especially with good field position. Still need to work on one-on-one defense, though, as our tries came from running around and into holes in the KR defense, where several of theirs came (notably Galea's ) from running through our defenders.
Briers kicking game was definately missed...even just from penalty kicks for touch......Dobson took his team forward 40m at one point we were managing 10m at best!

Was Cookie I believe, fantastic distance he gains from penalty kicks.
Briers kicking game is nowhere near as good as it used to be - even when we battered Bradford his kicking was average.
His kicking for touch distance is decreasing although to be fair he did OK against Huddersfield. He is struggling to get any kind of distance - maybe he is playing injured and too much reliance is placed on him.
I would love to see Sinfield down at the Wire, he has more of an Aussie style to his kicking, usually finds the ground and has defenders turning.
I agree that Briers does not generally have a great kicking game. Many of his down field kicks are poor. However he would have gained a few extra yards from penalty kicks. Although I say generally his kicking game is not great he does have a knack of producing a couple of gems - well placed grubber kicks or over head to King.
Generally the kicking game wasn't all that great this weekend which it seems many attribute to the lengthy grass.
