thanks jamie, but if i was going it would be for the full weekend not just the day
anyway this pig flu thing has put the final nail in the coffin for me. dont fancy being cooped up with lots of people at this particular moment in time
enjoy yourself though lad, and if you cant be good be careful

I dont think the magic weekend should be scrapped. We have to be one of very few sports to be able to have every team from the top flight playing in the same city in one weekend with all the fans sitting next to each other in the stadiums, buying each other pints, singing anc chanting loudly in pubs with all different versions going on & being able to watch a great sport = 7 games for as little as a fiver! You cant go wrong on that front. However i do feel Edinburgh will be a let down, im looking forward to it dont get me wrond but I think Cardiff just had everything.
Someone said to me yesterday that instead of the RFL getting sponsership for the Mascot games - why not get sponsership for the weekend - we can have Vestas Millenium Magic or whatever and then the sponsership money should be divided to all the clubs to put on discount coaches - even if these would be just for the day and that in itself can boost crowds attendances.
I agree with that - it means that people who say money is tight - they can still have a chance of going if it something like a tenner or less for coach and a fiver for the games - it would be like going to Leeds - just a little longer.
Maybe move the Magic weekend to the Midlans - The Quins chief said that they need a middle man in the UK - London - North, he asked about London - Midlands - North. The east midlands stadiums are 30k and the west not much better except for Villa Park...

Midlands Magic that has a bit of a ring to it actually, would Birmingham have the attraction though in terms of pubs, clubs, culture to attract your RL fan?
Are you going Edinburgh then Wolfboy with your mum? Be good to see her again after meeting her in Tunisia of all places!

interesting - this will be my first magic weekend. travel and 3 nights for less than 250 quid....from london.
i'll be interested to see what the whole event is like, but i do think more locals need to be attracted. if you can get even 5k scots there, then it will have been worthwhile.
on the cumbria front, weren't workington in super league at the beginning? also, wasn't a cumbrian "national" team muted, with the championship teams feeding into it?
it does look like barrow will be putting a bid for a 2012 franchise together. they seem to have a much improved playing staff, but the ground will need a huge overhall.
