Here goes. Nothing better to do so I'll rate our draft!
Round 1 (9th)- B.J Raji- NT- Boston College
Great pick up. Can learn behind Pickett at NT, rotate at DE for some downs. Play in 4-3 packages. He's the complete package at NT. The only real pick we could make.
Grade: A-
Round 1 (26th)- Clay Matthews- OLB- USC
Thompson loves this guy and although I'm suprised we moved up I trust him. He really wanted Nelson last year and although maybe high he got him also. Clay was mocked to go as high as 11th to the Bills so to get him at 26 is a steal. I was concerned about giving up a 2nd and two 3rds but it panned out OK.
Grade: A
Round 4 (109th)- T.J Lang- OT/G- Eastern Michigan
Could have gone much higher, as high as the bottom of round two. Great depth and can play virtually every Offensive Line position. Typical Ted Thompson pick. For value alone it gets a A.
Grade: A
Round 5 (145th)- Quinn Johnson- FB- LSU
I'm not sure on this pick. He is a huge guy and I suppose for that reason he fits the up the middle run game that we are trying to employ. Kuhn and Hall, who we already have, are more than capable players at FB. Much better players available.
Grade: D
Round 5 (162nd)- Jamon Meredith- OT- South Carolina
Absolutely sensational selection. I would have settled for him in round 2/3 if we had a pick. This makes up for trading away one more pick than I would have liked for Clay. Phenomanal depth.
Grade: A+
Round 6 (182nd)- Jarius Wynn- DE- Georgia
Pretty decent prospect and definately good depth for the new system. Greater value was available though. Time will tell if it was a great pick and he develops to be a starting DE.
Mike Mickens should have been the CB to pick at this point if we want an out and out corner. This pick makes sense because he can convert to Safety and Collins is alledgedly going to hold out. After that it is good depth at both position.
Grade: B
Round 7 (218th)- Brad Jones- LB- Colorado
Again, good value pick and depth for our new 3-4. Developmental player and could see some game time. Definate Thompson special teams player. Nothing else left to get at this point
Grade: A
Great draft in all. We filled every hole we needed to and added some key depth players.
Chargers take Larry English with the first. Bye bye Mr Merriman (that's the big fear anyway). All in all I'm not to disappointed with the draft. Added some big nasty guys that we need. I am intirgued with the Canadian prospect NT we took in the 5th, Vaughn Martin.

The Seahawks have removed the franchise tag from Leroy Hill now that they have Aaron Curry to be honest i didnt even know you could remove a tag unless someone traded for them

Do I take it that Clay Matthews is the son of Clay Matthews and nephew of the Hall Of Fame great Bruce Matthews of the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans ?
