I don't care about individual honours as they're all based on opinion, and as you see sometimes opinion is blinkered with sentiment. I just find it pretty silly that our player of the year has started 12 games in a season, how is he a match for the others in terms of consistency and so on? It's quite clear how much thought has gone into this award.
He's actually started 24 games this season and featured in 40 so that's a bit unfair.
It's a PFA award so we have to think that professional footballers know more than you (shudder) and me (double shudder). I accept that sentimentality may have assisted a bit but it's not as if they started a Facebook group to make sure all the votes went to Giggs.
The only problem I have with this award is that they vote for it far too early. They should be voting for it now.
