In the long run i think Roberts will be a good player for us but at the moment i don't see a place for him next week.
I'd like for us to have that attacking element from fullback in Phelps and we can't leave Richards or Ainscough out so i just don't see a place for him.
Somebody mentioned Phelps to 6 with Leuluai to 9 if Riddell is out and thats the only way i can see Roberts keeping his place.
the only downfall to ainscoughs game is his confidence under the high ball, ok hes not the biggest of lads but i think saints will expose him again on saturday if he plays, feel bad for the lad but that will be the only way to keep his confidence up in my opinion, i know it sounds daft sayin if you drop a lad his confidence will go down but if he gets peppered against saints its downhill from there

i just think he needs to be protected when the high ball comes in, if thats his downfall then move him out of the way on the 5th tackle and put pat there instead. shaun went fullback towards the end of the game today when the last tackle was coming in.

thats not what i am saying at all, if thats his only negative part of the game you move him inside until that part improves - any team would do that, gardner gets protected at saints why cant we do the same

I thought he did ok. In all honesty, I was a bit disappointed with Amos Roberts' pace when Gleeson/Smith put him in space.
The Gleeson nightmare has only arisen from the terrible coverage on BBC Radio Manchester.
Very rarely do they have a good thing to say about Wigan, and this was their little hobby horse yesterday afternoon. In particular Dave Hadfield, who has lost a lot of my respect of late.
As much as they're a bunch of clowns on Sky Sports, at least we don't have to put up with the BBC bitterness.
Richards had a worse game than Gleeson. He gave the ball away for the second Wakey try and then made a hash of the clearing kick just prior the the fourth Wakefield try.
If we had cut out the basic errors we would have won that game by 30+ points.

Roberts really does my head in how long it takes him to make up his mind he's actually going to make the run forward.
He got the ball 3 times in the clear within the first halfhour yesterday but it took him that long to actually get going he was collered pretty quickly.
The time he did nearly get away and got ankle tapped he threw the worse pass of the season inside to nobody.
