Now ok maybe sign him with a prelim contract subject to medical/visa/court case (whatever may apply) but don;t announce it till it is certain. It isn;t like he was a big signing that would have the supporters waiting in anticipation for his first game.
Did you not watch the FCTV statement? It explained quite clearly why things were done the way they were. One point raised which is pertinent to your second paragraph was that it's impossible to keep a signing secret. Can you imagine the furore if someone had spotted Reardon training with the squad (an integral part of his medical assessment) and gone to the press? We'd have had fans and the media up in arms about the club keeping secrets, especially given the controversial nature of the signing.
The club make plenty of mistakes, but there are times when they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. This was one of them.
Hold on to me baby, his bony hands will do you no harm It said in the cards, we lost our souls to the Nameless One

No its isnt, it makes perfect sense, a player that would have done a very good job for us became available and the club acted quickly to sign him in order to make sure that he didnt join somebody else, but becuase of the speed they acted quickly they included a clause so that he could be very throughally assessed without having to rush it and more importantly didnt obstruct any treatment or scans which current players needed, Im guessing that the club dont have a magic wand or complete freedom and use of medical equipment and hospitals whenever they want and I assume there will be a restriction on how many players they can send for scans etc in a period of time, especially over the bank holiday period. As it turns out there was a problem and Hull were able to stop the deal and save us having another player on the treatment table long term, it really is that simple.
