Not the best of games - could have gone either way and unfortunately it didn't go our way. After watching Hull twice against us and live on TV a couple of times, I have to say they look a poor side this season.
We made far too many mistakes and that probably lost us the game - think we knocked on about 5 times in about 20 minutes after we went 10-0 up and let Hull back in. We started so well but let them back into it with those mistakes.
I thought the referee was apalling but I'm gonna watch the replay on Sky again before making full comment on him because it often looks very different when watching it live at the game and then seeing it again on TV.

thought the ref had a decent game ( and im not just saying that because we won, he got most cals right even the offsides which at least he saw.
Born and Bred Black and White thank god ! CMON U ULLLLLLLLAAAAAAA
I'm not one for blaming refs for the result of games, but tonight his decisions weighed heavy for both sides. He certainly influenced a game which if left to the teams would have played out differently. Saying that, the touch judges were even worse. Why do we bother with them?
As for the result?
Well it could have gone either way, and I felt Salford gifted Hull the win rather than Hull being any better than us. Which I suppose is a big plus for us, seeing as we are the new boys. If we had maintained our concentration for the first 20 mins instead of just the first 10, the game would have been won.
I guess we will learn from this, and I'm proud of the lads efforts tonight. Alker looked good. Myler, Ratchford, Cashmere, Goulding. All showed what our team can be with a little belief and consistency.
Chins-up, boys. There's still a way to go, and the team is coming together, even though we lack any depth in the squad...

I thought ref was ok although a little picky. Agreed Tickle should have got 10 mins though.
Wiltshire cost you the game and yes we are a very poor team at the moment.
Good luck in the league the rest of this season, at least you are trying to play good rugby, Mcrae is good for that.
Ref was rubbish. Very skinny 10, didn't pull salford up for about 3 high tackles and 2 or 3 times when the players legs were lifted above the vertical. Completely inconsistent with penalties for interference (resulting in players from both sides trying to milk it which is getting into football territory), tickle should have had 10 minutes for holding down. Don't think he influenced the result though as he was equally as bad for both sides

I've just watched the match, recorded it earlier. Although you didn't win - and you were unfortunate not to - I've got to say that from when I last saw you play, which was when you came to Saints, you have improved beyond recognition even though at the time you played us you were showing real promise in attack. I know Wilshere was off form (damn shame given his usual kicking ability and your need for the goal kicks tonight) but if one or two of your players could just keep a tighter hold on the ball then there is no reason why you can't win a goodly number more games this season. You are definitely on the up as a team, looking better in defence, more cohesive, more determined (I've never seen a team so intent on contesting the scrum!), more creative. I know it's a loss for you but I hope you guys don't get dispondent again as you are playing much better now, you're finding your feet, and I enjoyed watching you play tonight.
Keep it up and good luck for the rest of the season.
