HDM called Agar after 10pm the other night and were blatantly trying to provoke a reaction - he took the call, was giving them a story but then they tried digging and asking questions that he didnt and shouldnt have to answer.

if anyone called me after 10pm at night then id probably tell them to ram it. its his own personal time with his family and a 5hit journalist from the HDM is trying to incite him to say something that he can print the next day

I was as annoyed as anyone when i first heard the story but there is a reason for anything the club do. Not saying this is the right thing, but it may make the HDM think twice before they call after 10pm!

There's no doubting that the HDM is a pi$$ poor excuse for a newspaper staffed by talentless hacks. There's no doubting that they're constantly trying to rake up muck about both RL sides. But this is not the best way to deal with the situation IMO. It just gives them extra ammunition and pretty much carte blanch to print what they like.

The people who probaby made the decision to call won't be Hullites or Hullensians (whatever we are) and the sports dept won't have any say over what goes on in the "news" section. They will not care if circulation drops and more redundancies are made, they will just move on to their next "project" - don't forget if they were any good they wouldn't be working there!

Just makes us look more like a club with no clue really.
The problem is when you decide not to talk to the media you then get no chance to make your own points on the various issues.

It seems that every few months something else turns up and bites us on the a$$. What's next???

They do that anyway mate. The standard of journalism is at kindergarten level both in the local paper and on blunderside. As has been stated elsewhere this wouldn't happen to the beloved Hull City. Not sure about the cutting of links - I can see reasons for and against doing it. On balance it's probably better not to but if a siege mentality arises as a result of it and transfers itself into the minds of the players we might see some benefit. I'd like to see the fans back the club on this and as a group tell the mail to f*** off but doubt that will happen in the current climate.

Doubt many people on here buy the wail anyway except maybe the day after a game. The paper is complete garbage.

judasgate - found Judas guilty of misconduct
Thackray - ok that was our fault - we still reached the Challenge Cup Final
Fridays - attendances seem to be up?
Reardon - Good job we had a clause in the contract regarding his injury, if we hadn't then it would have been a cock-up.

In my opinion all this will be to placate Hudgill after the Cockaynegate episode and the Morgangate fine.

Don't bother taking your blinkers off... the blind leading the blind 8)

If the club didn't sort Reardon out with a medical prior to contract talks after all that had happend to Cockayne then it show them upto being a shower!!!

The club (rightly or wrongly) signed him quickly because we needed a player in the position he could cover, we also had the good sense to have a clause in his contract about a full medical (how we would have managed to organise one on the Easter bank holiday I'll let you suggest), all in all we have been quite professional (other than the initial signing, which I completely disagreed with)

Actually agree with Basil here  The fact we are signing players before they have a full medical is shocking with or without a clause. Not to mention that we then passed the new signing onto the rpess and on the website.

Now ok maybe sign him with a prelim contract subject to medical/visa/court case (whatever may apply) but don;t announce it till it is certain.
It isn;t like he was a big signing that would have the supporters waiting in anticipation for his first game.

I also disagreed with the signing although the reasons for doing it were good ones. Hull have acted totally professionally in every respect regarding it and the only foolish ones in this case are those who have tried and failed to ridicule the club as a result, both on here and in the high quality/flagship local media.
