Supporters attending the Magic Weekend in Edinburgh will benefit from three times the action this May as not only will they be able to watch seven games of engage Super League but they will also be able to listen to the referee or Sky match commentary during each game from the comfort of their Murrayfield stadium seat.
Special ‘In Stadia Radios’, retailing at £5 each, will be available to purchase on both days of the Magic Weekend (2/3May) via mobile sellers at Murrayfield giving supporters a unique insight into each of the seven games.
Phil Williams, RFL Marketing Manager, said: “We want our supporters to have a full and enjoyable experience at the Magic Weekend. That is why we’re adding to their entertainment by giving fans the opportunity to tune into the referee or listen to what Eddie and Stevo have to say during each game.
“The ‘In Stadio Radios’ are an excellent way of allowing supporters to experience all aspects of rugby league matches. They are easy to use and have volume controls so that you will be able to hear the commentary even if the crowd atmosphere is loud.”
It’s not just May’s Magic Weekend that will benefit from ‘In Stadia Radio’ this season. The RFL has agreed a partnership with Sound Decisions Ltd that will see radios available at August’s Carnegie Challenge Cup Final at Wembley and also October’s engage Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford.

They tried that before. I seem to remember it was dropped after the fans could hear what Mr James Lowes called Russell Smith after the 2002 Grand Final (Joynt's 'voluntary tackle')

I remember them doing this at a test or Tri-Nations match before. Only rather than paying for their device I just used the FM radio on my phone at the time.

The RaRa's have them at all the internationals, lets be honest you'd need them for all the technical offenses they have, I reckon we'd be able to hear Ian Smith where ever we are in the ground though

Good question. Not a clue. I lifted all that from Huddersfields site. One would presume so.
