You don't have a feasibility study yet either which is a prerequisite of planning permission. It is rather a delicious irony that all these milestones you and others (some months ago) intimated were such huge barriers for Cas are suddenly going to be brushed aside by simply 'pushing hard enough' when it comes to Wakey.

Strange, it would alarm me if I were a Wakey fan. TBH I'd be a little worried that if we're so far down the line and still there's no bricks being laid, just how long is it going to take you to complete? 2011 looks a bit tight to me, so maybe Ted's pinning his franchise hopes on another of those famous promises?

Find where I did, I always said planning was a given. Sorry to appear tedious but "funding gap" has been my only mantra for some time.

 Oh the irony, so Richard Wrights endless promises and posturing have come to reality. I drove past Xscape last night night and I saw no stadium, but I'll drive past it again tonight and if it's there I will give that comment a bit more credibility

It's great news that Wakefield are back on track - but I don't see why some people are getting over-excited. Wakey's plans are no further along than ours. Infact, they're behind. :?

That's rather increasing in popularity for you isn't it... "Find where I said that" - "Show me where I wrote that". Certainly a welcome new addition to your intellectual arsenal.

Sadly though, I used the word 'intimated' as opposed to 'said' or 'stated', which rather negates any need to find anything concrete. A cunningly subjective stretch I know, but hey... I learned from the best.

As I've noted on the 'other' thread, IF Cas are smokescreening they won't be the first WMDC Super League club to have done so, will they? :D

Do you seriously believe that?? You really don't think on that occasion it was the total fault of the council?........l mean do you think the council would have spent £20,000 on a study, just to help Wakefield Trinity Wildcats 'smokescreen' the process of selection???

Well said wtf is everyone getting out the pram for!! they still need
Outline planning (which we hav) takes about 2-5 years
Funding (which were told is issue for both clubs!!)
Then more planning
Last of all building

As we all know getting over the first bit is the worst, time wise and there is a lot of greenbelt land round that area

What I believe is that the announcement regarding Thornes Park's demise was not officially made until after the Wildcats had (by the RFL's admission) just scraped through the franchise decision making process. I also believe that the Wildcats' franchise application was entirely centred around Thornes Park being a goer. As the RFL pointed out, Wakey clearly had "...no Plan B" to fall back on.

Yes, I would use the word 'smokescreen'. At best, the timing had staggeringly fortunate consequences for your club's franchise application wouldn't you say? :D

Incidentally, around this time the Wakey messageboard (sorry, I mean that part of RLFans which some people think of as 'the Wakey bit') was full of indignant Wakey fans calling the council leaders various shades of evil for not making any announcement in the run up to the franchise decisions being made. Funny? I almost had a seizure...

But one thing I'm absolutely positive about is that, if Cas do end up having to try and pull the same trick, it'll be the Wakey fans who'll be first in the queue to moan about it. :D :D
