Funding will undoubtly be there, Mr Walker doesn't start things he can't finish, you just have to look at his CV and it makes your mouth water if its a new ground your craving!
the council can't say no after giving you provisional permission, and why would they want to? the land is under the same classification as J32 was and look what that has done to Cas!
Finally with the people involved and the economic sway they hold i can't see the WMDC saying anything but "yes please... sir... thank you sir." to the proposal to build something such as this, which will cost the council NOTHING! Mr Box and Co showed their true color's last Oct. Box held us at the end of a rope, and enjoyed it, i have a feeling that he is doing the same to you regarding his involvement wit your project now!
IF Mr Walker had overseen the last attempt i dare say Mr Box would never in a million years have tried the same bully boy tactics.

Uncanny... It's almost word for word.

Did you used to be a Cas fan two years ago?

Apparently (and i have no insider info)

We have the funding in place for a 13,000 seater stadium but NOT for the 15,000 which apparently is what RW is holding out for, how true it is i don't know though.

This seems to be the conventional wisdom doing the rounds at the moment. It would seem that the club are happy to allow it to permeate under its own steam, although you could argue against it based on their unwillingness to publically agree that it's the position. It's not bad news, so if it's true why not just say it's true?

The variant I "heard" was that the final design was pending a WMDC decision on whether or not they wanted to incorporate their own facilities into the site. Given the pace public bodies move at this is still a possibility, although all parties must realise that time is very precious on this one. If it is the only blocker to getting something built I'd have expected Waystone/Cas to have gone for the 'basic' option by now.

A third scenario is, of course, the disaster option. Something has gone very wrong with the project or someone's pulled out (etc) and the whole Glasshoughton stadium is dead or dying. In the current climate that's a possibility too but let's face it, if that was the position we wouldn't want the club to be shouting from the rooftops, nor would we be the first club in the district to be forced into the 'stadium smokescreen' tactic.

We could have pushed ahead with plans for a 13,000 capacity stadium, but RW is holding out for a 15,000 stadium.

Whether the problem is to do with extra cost or building problems I don't know, but I'm positive that RW - based on his comments in Rugby League World magazine - will deliver. I'm quietly confident.

Take that back boy.

As the song goes "Wakefield till i die"

"Therefore, surely nothing in life is to be feared, only understood. Apart from getting shanked at the cash machine!"

I love this city,
this is my town.
We get a week out, without a doubt,
gunna sing it out loud.

Riggins wrote:Just read the press release. All that has happened is a proposal. I could propose that I'm going to build a 15 bedroom house with a 50ft swimming pool gym overlooking the wonderful sights of Cas Vegas. Doesn't mean I've got a) the funding b) the planning permission c) the council backing d) my marbles.

As posted above Wakey have done what we did 18 months ago, said we are going to build a stadium. What RW did was to say this is just the beginning and it is a long process. Wakey haven't bothered with that, they've made it sound like they'll be ready to move in next week.

You're quite right in what you say, both have been guilty of that. Many Cas fans were convinced work would start a year ago and I'm sure that originally came from RW?

The proof in the pudding is what I have been saying all along and that is funding. If Wakey come out in the next month and say they have funding in place they will take the lead as it were, ditto Cas.

The difference is Cas or RW have never said this or at least never proved it which is only backed up by the fact that nothing has happened.

You have to ask why when apparently all is in place and allegedly has been for over a year why hasn't it been built. To me the only answer is they don't have the money.

At this moment in time we don't have Planning but frankly it will happen if the developer and the Council push it hard enough, that is how it is. Alas like you at this moment we don't have the cash or if we do it's not been made public in which case we are no further on. The only difference is that our scheme was announced yesterday whilst yours is now some years old and that is the bit that would alarm me if I were a Cas fan, ie what exactly is the problem.

I really doubt that.
