Short term sacrifice for a long term improvement and growth.
A small price to pay for the greater good as we simply cannot continue in the same way that we have been for the last 2+ years. A win guarentees another week of Noble and further disapointment.
Unofficially the most boring poster on Cherry and White.

But a loss doesn't mean that he will go. Some elements on here would suggest that IL won't pay him off and he will stay for the full year regardless.

If a loss to Celtic does not see him go, i would fully expect IL to offer him a new deal for 2010 and beyond.

I find it very difficult to imagine that Noble would be retained if we lost to Celtic.
We have to pay him either way - either as a pay-off or as the remainder of his wages. It's unlikely we'd have a ready-made head coach waiting to step straight into the breach, so we'd probably promote a caretaker from downstairs.
I don't think it would cost us much less to see him go before the end of the season than it would to keep him on until the end.

If he went to another club by mutual consent, would we have to pay him then?

Noble is getting paid to the end of the season if he stays or if he is sacked ,
Shaun Wane is already at the club and is already getting paid so how much more would it cost to promote him to head coach till the end of the season.

A loss must force the Chairmans hand, a win and a run of the traditional "lesser lights" in the league over the next few weeks if we beat Celtic could no doubt see us pick up 1 or 2 more wins and will ensure Noble moves back into the comfort zone despite his failings as a coach.
Exactly right, he needs to go, the sooner the better IMO, losing to Cas or Wakey if they where in last place would not be a big catastrophe but losing to a newly promoted team in that position that has no wins would be a huge problem, Nobby the taxi's booked, do us a favour and do one.
