Because thats what he did didnt he, he changed the rules just because he wanted too?

You've paid £17 to go watch a Rugby League match in which, the players, coaches and referees will all make a few mistakes, what do you want Mr Thaler to do? pay you back your £17?

Of course its your coach being a sore loser, I bet he doesnt say a dicky bird about the ref the next time you win.

Have you payed £17+ to watch players knock on, make silly passes, miss conversion kicks????

Lol and the players get shot down for it and are rightly moaned at after. Do refs not make mistakes that can be questioned or talked about as well? Why is there such a difference?

Occasionally the players apologise for it also take Gaz Hock’s greedy play against Bradford the guy held his hand up and apologised for it. How times have teams admitted the have underperformed and let the fans down? It’s about taking accountability and responsibility for performances.

How many times has a ref or Cummings admitted that a performance wasn’t to the level required? It’s as if they don’t care imo and are above the average fans who watch the game

Players and coaches rightly get stick just look at the Wigan board at the moment for proof but why not the refs?

Not true. As I’d think everyone knows, it wasn’t the fact of making criticisms, it was the personal abuse and vitriol. If you really can’t see the difference, there’s something wrong with you. It is a simple and plainly obvious distinction.

j_hunter_hkr wrote:They need to be "brought down" to a level where than can be criticised openly for poor performances.

Rubbish., because:
1. They could not be criticised any more openly than they are. Just spend 10 minutes on here after a game!
2. YOU and Justine claim it was a “poor performance” but you need to get it in your head that you holding an opinion does NOT make it a fact. It is one thing saying “in my opinion X was a poor decision”, quite another saying “this ref is incompetent, useless, he always is biased, he should be sacked or dropped”.
3. Plenty of people seem to think it was the opposite of a poor performance.

j_hunter_hkr wrote:Did you see the pass in the Hull FC vs Salford game that ended up winning the game? Did Ian Smith get punished? Dunno, maybe, did he?

“Punished”? FFS. Whose call was it? His? Linesman? Both? A judgment call was made and maybe it was wrong. This is no big deal. It happens. Of course it may have been an important call but it is no worse to miss a forward pass in the last seconds for a try, than in the first minute on the 4th tackle. It was not Smith’s fault that the game was so close, and he didn't deliberately miss it.

In any case, where we fundamentally disagree is you seem to think because a ref may fail to call a forward pass, this should lead to “punishment”. To me, this is just barking. If you don’t understand why, there’s no point in telling you.

j_hunter_hkr wrote:At times, their performances are 'p*ss poor'

No, they're not. How many decisions does a ref make in 80 minutes? many thousands. How many mistakes constitute having a 'p*ss poor' game? if you think about it, the refs' error count is invariably much, much lower than the players.

j_hunter_hkr wrote:. the 'refereeing standard has dropped' I said "If anything...". You can hardly say it's got better since going full time. They aren't good enough

Yes I can. I repeat that in my opinion, the refereeing so far this season is much better than this time last year, and watching all the games I do on Sky I reckon overall the refs are performing very well.

Quote: they should be publicly slagged off, to jolly well teach 'em

j_hunter_hkr wrote:. Now you're just making things up

I am? So when You said:-
j_hunter_hkr wrote:. as if they aren't protected enough by not having some sort of public disciplinary for poor performances and shocking decisions.
– you actually meant you do NOT want them to have some sort of public disciplinary for poor performances and shocking decisions.
Then when you said
j_hunter_hkr wrote:. The point is, everyone you mentioned above is publicly accountable for their mistakes except referees.

- you meant you are happy that referees are not (in your view) publicly accountable.
OK. And when you said
j_hunter_hkr wrote:. referees need to be brought down from their pedestals and made accountable for their p*ss poor performances publicly!

… you didn’t at all mean that they should be publicly slagged off and publicly knocked down from their pedestals. You actual meant that NOTHING SHOULD BE SAID and they should REMAIN ON THEIR (alleged) PEDESTALS unmolested.
I see. You say the exact opposite of what you mean. A strange carry on, but at least now we know

Seeing as all this boo hoo hoo about match officials continues, I have a suggestion for the RFL to consider.

3 trial matches in SL. Co-op and Co-op 1 at the end of the season with teams who have nothing to play for.

No match officials at all except for time keepers.

All the moaners on here to go along to respective games.

It would be "interesting" at least, and the comments afterwards even more "interesting"

With the Aussies going to 2 match officials why not see if no match officials works.

You never know until you try, except for all the experts match officials on these forums who know without trying

all this bleating and whining about the ref's performance....................

how come no match reports i've read or reports from any media outlet has mentioned anythnig about what morgan is moaning about?

it could be coincidence that the only people who saw anything wrong with thaler was the hull kr coach and hull kr fans
