I did and it was very nice. Great location and the best thing is that it’s a kind of hotel/apartment hybrid which meant we had a large fridge for keeping lots of tinned beer cold.

Where is it?

I stayed in the Mecure again. Absolutely spot on and has never let us down.

Looking at Google maps it's about 200yds from the Mercure on the other side of the canal http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?sourceid= ... a=N&tab=il

We've stayed in the Mercure and Kyriad in the past but they're both full this time so Dave Foti has got us in this new one.

It's just around the corner from that carousel. About 90 seconds walk from the river where most of the boozing was done on Monday afternoon - although much much quieter than last time I went.

To be fair though, most of the hotels seem ok and they're all close to the centre as it's a fairly small place. But I would recommend the Citea.

Oh, so just past the Damart building?

Yeah, it was extremely quiet. We stayed in Barcelona and drove up Monday morning and it was totally dead, but I suppose that's due to the Easter period. It's a shame for those who had visited the place for the first time as it's a totally different place and atmosphere when buzzing.

Yes Damart - or Debenhams as I know it. If you think it was quiet on the Monday you should have been there on the Sunday! It was almost post-apocalyptic what with the lack of life and the terrible weather!!

It is a hard pill to swallow but unbelievably true.
