I think a big part of the problem is other clubs attitudes. Even though we are struggling and have done for years we are still the big draw for most teams. Just like Phil Clarke said about Catalan selecting us as their first ever match. Other fans won't agree but most teams still raise their games against us because it's Wigan and that allied with our present front row is a recepie for disaster.

I wish I could find the thread were you berated me when I said this before the season even kicked off. Claiming the squad was much better than previous years, blah blah blah. Me being a doom and gloom monger and all the rest.

I think as a squad we actually are better in terms of numbers. The problem is the starting 17 has no class in the halfbacks nor props and they are 2 of the most important positions within a team. Trent Barrett papered over the cracks in a lot of games and won us games even though our forwards where poor. Now hes gone we have no real halfback and our props are just as bad as last year but we have improved the centres/wings which is useless when the forwards are not taking us forward and the halfbacks are not up to the task of getting the ball to the right places at the right time.
