no but watch his lips and see as well that he remains stationary for a moment after the pass before then following play.
A technical question on that pass: if the ball moved forwards (i.e. travelled from the players hand towards the opposition goal line) before it touched the ground could it be deemed to be a knock-on and, therefore, reviewable by the video ref? Just a question.

No - if it was thrown towards the goal line it is a forward.

Yes - that's what I reckon too, but I don't know where to get the official rules. There are so many "versions" on the net and many could be interpreted different ways.
While you're answering questions like that. If a player deliberately grounds the ball in the field of play is that a voluntary tackle if he makes no effort to get up? Leading question. If he happens to be moving towards the try line when he does it and slides over the line (and makes no effort to get up) what then? Yeah I know.... TRY. But if you were coming out of your own tryline it would be grounded as soon as it touched the ground and, therefore, a drop-out. If it was outside your in-goal area, it would be a voluntary tackle or a surrender. So why is it a try? Now, where did leave my anorak?

There used to be a PDF copy on the RFL website, but when they changed the site it disappeared.
According to the copy I have, MCS is spot on - a throw towards the opponents goal line is always a forward pass regardless of whether it hits the ground or is caught.
