They are not unworkable. They are just one more form of payment such as image rights etc that get added together to calculate a players salary cap value.

If a star player is signed on £150K a year it would be quite easy to say they were on £100K basic and the rest would accrue as a bonus if they played in a certain number of winning matches.

Team 2: "We will pay you £100k a year and potentially a bonus of £50k"

Tbh though the whole CC is pants anyway. I could give the club a workaround today that would enable them to skip around it, and there is nothing at all the RFL could do about it even if they found out.

Some clubs do pay win bonuses. They are just that, a bonus.

My example was probably a poor one but it is quite easy to set aside a portion of the salary cap for win bonuses and pay them - when the team wins. £200K would allow around £500 per player per game (given no team wins all the lot!). A tidy sum.

Yes but you are missing the point.

That extra money could go to buying a player in the first place, or two or three...............

I was starting to think we were paying out loss bonus!
