It looks as though Huddersfield have introduced the flat pass more into their game this year and that must be difficult to referee.
As ive said in another thread Thaler did miss two blatent forward passes but knock on's in the next tackle prevented them being major talking points.
I didnt see anything untoward with the tackle in which Lovegrove was injured.
Teams will seek advantages and its upto the referee to impose himself, if Hudds are guilty of laying on and getting away with it then more fool Rovers for not doing likewise.
Although i hope this is looked at more closely or it will promote the Aussie style of defence orientated games.
Having interviewed JM afterwards he was clearly very annoyed but he did credit Hudds for the win.
He obviously felt he needed to make a point but to describe it as a rant is just untrue.
When Thaler reffed the NRL Cup Final in 2005 between us and Cas in 2005 i thought he would kick on to be a really good official.
I dont think he has progressed enough to be considered a top referee yet.
A sensible post at last.
I am sure that refs this season are advised to be more tolerant at the tackle re slowing the game down. I have watched all the Giants games this season as well as many other teams. It is the same fort both teams. In SL it appears that there is an attempt to encourage a slower PTB ala Australia style which it is hoped will encourage more skilful play than quick play and running from Dummy half.
I do not really like it but have to get used to it, BUT it is the same for all teams. Morgans moaning was EXCATLY the same as NOBLES which was shot down on boots and All by Cullen, Eddie and Stevo.
As for the offside again i am sure refs are instructed to blkow less than previously. Most refs now take the teams back 12 metres and then let them encroach as the ball is played.
I am sure that most of you still hav eyour Godd Friday game taped. If so watch it again and tell me how many times HKR had all their players onside
