Other players at the club stayed loyal he skipped. Nothing we could do!!

I still dont think he ever got an offer. Unless Lol Ogburn was offering him terms at his 'takeover' night at the Village.

Salford where fast out of the blocks down to a Widnes native I believe and Alan Hunte pushed it through with Mcrae.

Sad but that's the way it works.

As I understand it he was offered attractive terms through the club officials from both interested parties to stay.
Despite what everyone says there was never a chance of us losing the club with us having 2 interested parties for much of the process.

There were also a number of rumours circulating (from sources claiming to be Myler's friends) that his length of stay at Salfud will be deemed by Wigan. There is no doubting that his ambition (or his step dad's ambition for that matter) is far greater than either Widnes or Salfud.

Enjoy him while you can Wardley. We couldn't keep him and neither will Salford.Leeds would have been well impressed with him yesterday.

Massive loss, he has the potential to be a world beater within the next 12 to 18 months. Shame but he would probably have always moved on anyway.

And as for the petty salford slating, chill out lads, wardleyred is only trying to have a laugh. Plus Salford is one of the most modern and upcoming NW towns/cities. You do realise there is more to Solly than 'Weaste' and Ordsall don't you?

an atmosphere that isn't created by people in matching shirts clapping along to a drum or novelty PA music might be nice!

Neither of which took control of the club so the lad was vindicated in the fact that he went elsewhere to ply his trade.

Im not sure I would have taken a deal off either of the two parties known to the public who where interested in the club.

As I said.. no-one apart from those on TIW (who whipped themselves up into a frenzy) thought that we wouldn't have a club following the process and when both interested parties at that stage made an attempt to retain the lad I would have expected a little more loyalty from someone who had had so much time and effort invested in him as a youngster.
Of course the lad can feel vindicated.. he is now playing SL and will shortly move to one of the bigger clubs I'm sure.. but to jump ship so early instead of even hanging on to see what would happen annoyed quite a few people that had worked with him for so long. He had Salfud at his beck and call and could have waited another week or two.
His leaving was disappointing but the way in which he left was galling for some.

Have to say he made the right call in going to Salford when he did probably the decision that will make his career and good luck to him. He's a class player and still only 18. If he'd stayed at Widnes it would have been completely wrong for him on all levels and he was actually devastated to leave, but had no choice really. It's Widnes' own fault for not winning the 2007 Grand final. He's had the opportunity to show super league his talents and is undoubtedly the future of international rugby league in this country, just hope Union don't come calling.
