From memory our best average attendances during the 80's hovered around the 8,000 mark. Very rarely did we break the 10,000 barrier (officially). Bradford's crowds weren't much better i think - very similar.
Interesting to note that our highest average attendance in 88/89 was when we got relegated. And we averaged more than 1st divivion Bradford in 89/90 when we were in the 2nd division. I will endeavour to find the missing 80s.

Thr Bradford public only ever seemed to turn up for the big matches in them days. They used to get some shocking crowds for mid week games in the middle of winter.

Or during the Summer either when it rains they prefered to spend the money on players than give the ordinary speccies decent facilities every time Bradford are at home I pray for two things .1 ,They get beat.2 It rains

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
