Hell kenny a post without the mention of "its all the celery caps fault"

I'm assuming everyone can see the very obvious connection. Maybe I have to spell it out for some.

Simple. If there was no CC there would be VERY little "Fielden bashing" on here. He would be accepted as a "solid" workhorse prop who defends very well.

Still with me?

HOWEVER. The real issue most have with Fielden is that he allegedly takes up a high proportion of the CC. This impacts SF in 2 ways.

1. Less people to "share the workload"
2. Increased pressure on him to perform.
3. Increased pressure on BN to pick him. (or effectively play with a reduction of 15% to your CC).*

Take away the CC, the anti SF posts would tumble.

Dan Sarginson: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to join the biggest name in the competition" 18/10/2013

Tony Clubb: "This is a new exciting chapter of my life signing for Wigan and I couldn't be happier" 18/10/2013

Romain Navarrete: “I’m very happy to have signed for Wigan Warriors. As soon I knew that Wigan were interested, they were the only team that I wanted to sign for. To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”

But imo the real reason for them is not so much the fact that he is sub par, but that he is sub par AND taking up CC space.

Remove the CC and the last part would not be an issue.

Are you seriously suggesting that underperforming big name signings get no flak in any other sport not subject to the SC? And that big name RL signings got no flak pre SC?

Your obsession with blaming the cap for everything is hilarious. :D

Of course I am not. Now kindly re-read the post before you post bollox. I know it's hard for you, but try and read the post.

Ah OK, sorry for the misunderstanding, I thought you said:

Which is clearly nonsense when referring to a player bought for a world record fee and on the highest wages at the club.

And I stand by it.

The real reason people have an issue with SF is that he is taking up a large slice of the CC and not performing.

Take away the artificial situation under the CC and there would be a lot less concern from the Wigan fans (of which you are clearly not one, but like other Stains fans you recognise Wigan as being the largest and most famous RL club in the world, and hang around on our forum like a lost puppy).

I doubt many, if any, other Wigan fans would. Big name flops have always been subject to ridicule.

Like any Saints fan I recognise Wigan as our local rivals and enjoy reading about your worst start to a season, certainly from a home perspective, in years. Especially 2 days after a derby.

I think Hock's passport was hidden by salary cap auditors by the way.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

There's a great post on the Sts board about how things have turned full circle since the early 90s. If boot was on other foot, we Sainst fans might have been getting excited about a new signing and running the Piesclose but the reality is that Saints were a shadow of the team that beat Leeds and still had enough in the tank to beat a Wigan side at near full tilt.

My view on Wigan?

#No long term policy, poor coach and too often doing too much tinkering in off season thinking success can be signed in. You may have turned a corner in Tomkins and the like but you said it a few years back with Robinson/Brown/Danny Sculthorpe and what happened to them?

You have some good young players but do lack a leader and cutting edge in attack (bar Hock who is class).

Get shot of Nobby (he's taking you nowhere) and bring in a better coach who can be trusted to build a side over 3-4 years around Tomkins/Leulai/Hock and you other younger better players.

You need to dispsense with the likes of Riddell, Roberts, Phelps and Coley - not good enough
