I have been asked to nominate the England squad of 23 to contest the 2013 World Cup.
Below is a tentative squad for the 2013 World Cup. It contains some of the most exciting three quarters and halves that England has produced in two decades. The final squad of 23 will be announced sometime in 2013.
Can they win it?
FULL BACKS: Lee Smith, Dave Halley
THREE QUARTERS: Shaun Ainscough, Michael Shenton, Tony Clubb, Ashley Gibson, Tom Briscoe, Will Sharp
HALVES: Greg McNally, Richie Myler, Kyle Eastmond
BACK ROWERS: Joe Westerman, Michael Worrincy Gareth Hock, Carl Ablett, Jon Wilkin
PROPS: James Graham, Sam Burgess, Luke Burgess, Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, David Williams

Halley is welsh!
Gibson isn't good enough for Leeds when Smith is out never mind England!
Scott Moore will be in the side by then!
No Sam Tomkins or McGuire who will only be 30!
No Ashurst for Ablett McShane should be in there as well
No Watkins??
McNally is in there who isn't proven at SL level yet...
Joel Tomkins will be good enough.
Yeaman should be in there.
Ellis will still be good enough.
I'd go:
1. Lee Smith
2. Tom Briscoe
3. Kirk Yeaman
4. Michael Shenton
5. Shaun Ainscough
6. Danny McGuire
7. Kyle Eastmond
8. Sam Burgess
9. Scott Moore
10. James Graham
11. Jon Wilkin
12. Gareth Ellis
13. Joe Westerman
14. James Roby
15. Gareth Hock
16. LMS
17. Luke Burgess
18. Sam Tomkins
19. Richie Myler
20. Paul Prescott
21. Paul Clough
22. Joel Tomkins
23. Ben Jones Bishop

The full backs or wingers named are performing better than Watkins. McNally is in there who isn't proven at SL level yet... McNally is one of the most sensational half back talents I have seen in England in twenty years. Joel Tomkins will be good enough. Yeaman should be in there. Most good judges think Yeaman is not now good enough, and hence is not likely to be good enough in the future. Ellis will still be good enough. Ellis willl be 32. Hock will be still 30. Ellis will be too old for a backrower when you have speedier young talent like Worrincy. Steve Menzies was always a freak in terms of speed and agility, but would not make the Australian team now. I'd go:
1. Lee Smith 2. Tom Briscoe 3. Kirk Yeaman 4. Michael Shenton 5. Shaun Ainscough 6. Danny McGuire 7. Kyle Eastmond 8. Sam Burgess 9. Scott Moore 10. James Graham 11. Jon Wilkin 12. Gareth Ellis 13. Joe Westerman
14. James Roby 15. Gareth Hock 16. LMS 17. Luke Burgess
18. Sam Tomkins 19. Richie Myler 20. Paul Prescott 21. Paul Clough 22. Joel Tomkins 23. Ben Jones Bishop

Myler is a better player than Eastmond imo, hes showing class even in Salford's average team, lets see how eastmond would go in our side instead of a worldclass Saints team? Myler before eastmond for me.
