I honestly don't think the ref had a good game.

Btw imo Hock scored a try.

What game were you watching????

Thought we got quite a lot from the ref, did anyone else think Phelps was tackled in the air for the last try? The Hock no try was correct.

Hock definitely no try.

Phelps' knock on looked to go backwards, but difficult to tell at pitch level from some distance away, so no argument with that one.

I thought the pass to Ainscough for his second was fine - the ball went forward relative to the ground, but went backwards relative to the player, as he was running quickly at the time. Watch the replay from the wide angle and you can clearly see that the passer is in front of the ball as it moves left.

Thaler made plenty of poor decisions. He seems to ref the game to how he wants the scoreline to be and not what's going on.

Don't think he had a good game at all for either side.

You just have to look at the Graham incident.

'Play on, play on James, oh I mean play the ball'.

I think you're right that he's the best, but even he makes a lot of mistakes. Fortunately they evened themselves out last night but there's nothing worse than close matches being decided by poor refereeing. I think the RL should take a look at the two ref option, the game is just too fast for one man to police. They could also do with finding some decent TJs.

Agree that the Graham penalty was bad - you can't shout 'play on' & then 'play t'ball' & expect a player in the midst of a tackle to be able to react. However, the rest of your post is a bit harsh I think. Yes, there were errors, there always will be, but at least it wasn't the 30+ penalties, with errors, that Ganson was producing last season.

Refereeing was in danger of ruining the game this time last year - it's generally improved hugely lately.

The ref had a good game last night.
There was almost 20 mins gone before he gave the first pen.
Hock's disallowed "try" was the first pen not given by Thaler but the VR.
Yes he made mistakes and glaring ones but overall he had an excellent game.
Compare that to Bentham's nightmare v Huddersfield and he looked very good.

Ganson had a good game in France last week, and today at Hull.
I thought Thaler was generous to Wigan last night TBH.
It seems the refs are letting a lot more go at the moment, such as not touching the ball with the foot at the PTB, markers not square, etc. It has certainly made for a quicker game, with a lot less penalties. You can hear them telling players to be square, or 'two feet' or when the ball's out at a scrum. Having said that, I don't want the players to start taking the p1$$ and ruining the game either.

Dan Sarginson: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to join the biggest name in the competition" 18/10/2013

Tony Clubb: "This is a new exciting chapter of my life signing for Wigan and I couldn't be happier" 18/10/2013

Romain Navarrete: “I’m very happy to have signed for Wigan Warriors. As soon I knew that Wigan were interested, they were the only team that I wanted to sign for. To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”

He was giving both sides a very generous 10m today.
