Thought he did well bar a couple of errors, would definitely give him a game again on Monday while Richards is out.

Exactly. Some people cant see past their obsession to criticise and miss the value of a player like Phelps because of the mass love for Richards.

Exactly.

It was typified by the mass hysteria amongst the usual sheep-like posters on here yesterday afternoon when the news broke of Phelps' return.

He's played poor at centre this season, his positioning in defence really letting him down. This doesn't mean his defence in general is poor, which a lot assumed straight away.

All in all, bar a couple of errors, he added more in terms of attacking full back play than Richards does.

He was my Man of the match last night. Also got MOTM in the south stand bar.

Well played Phelps! 8)

I wonder if Mathers watched the game last night and wondered why we did not do the same for him

In his last game for Canterbury Phelps played full-back and he was absoloutly superb.

Given all the problems we have had with Mathers why is it only now we have given Phelps a game at full back?

Personally I think he played very well and he could be giving Noble some selection headaches. I would like to see him get some more gametime at fullback. Nothing against Pat but his best position is wing. He doesnt come into the line well enough in attack for me to play FB.

Obviously you cannot drop Ainscough at the moment and I thought Famous Amos had his best game in a Wigan shirt in the derby so you cannot drop him either

Richards is injured anyway so all three will probably be in the team on Monday

Which is just as well for Saints because half their trys would be chalked off.

Thought Phelps had a good game last night bar one or two errors.
